Excellent customer service. Steve was friendly, clean and efficient. He had diagnosed the problem and after retrieving a needed part, made quick work of the repair. Would call on AC electrical again if needed and would recommend to anyone needing electrical repairs/solutions. Thank you!

We highly recommend AC Electrical for all your home electrical work! Helen and her team are all pros from start to finish. We had a long list of electrical issues in an old home and Master Electrician Bobby and his crew were able to fix them all. We had a contractor here installing new wooden soffits and they coordinated with him to put the wiring in for the new pot lights. They sourced and replaced corroded lights on our steps and new bulbs on our ramp + installed smart switches with Leviton app to control lighting with a dimmer from our phones ~ Yay! No more coming home in the dark! Also supplied & installed a new Ring security camera & floodlight by our driveway + Ring doorbell & motion sensor lights by the sides of our home ~ a real game changer for our home security! They sourced and replaced 2 bathroom fans with professional quality Panasonic whisper-quiet fans and they worked with their roofer contractor to vent one out ~ very grateful to get this done after we were horrified to discover a bathroom renovator had only vented the fan into the attic (seems it’s quite common for renovators to take the easy way and leave homeowners wondering why there is mold and paint peeling in their newly renovated bathroom). Excellent communications, hands-on training with the new technology, and problem-solving throughout. Fair prices and all work and equipment comes with a 3 year warranty ~ now try to find anyone that gives that guarantee these days! They are also certified Generac generator installers. We had one installed a few years ago, but it’s nice to know if you need one installed and/or serviced. We’re pleased we went local and found AC Electrical Contractors Ltd. for all our home electrical needs ~ we can see clearly now with new lights & security cameras and we feel safe ~ Thank You AC Electrical :)

Nasser, Bobby and Owen did a great job from start to finish on a job that required new pot lights, installing hanging fixtures, and moving existing fixtures. Communication was great and expectations were made clear before any work started. A permit was submitted ahead of work and proper arrangements for ESA inspections were made. They took care to cover our furniture and floors where they were working, and were flexible in accommodating changes on the fly. The install was very professionally done. The place was left clean as well. Top notch work.

I could not have asked for a better service. Both electricians were competent, polite and had tidy uniforms. They answered my questions and explained the process. There were no hidden fees. Bobby left the work area tidier that it was when he arrived. His cabling was tidy and he fastened everything in place properly and tidy. Even the price list and the truck look tidy and professional. I would absolutely recommend this company to anyone looking for professional electrical services.

The work they have done on my building was night and day, they installed all exterior spot lights along the front to help illuminate the building at night which were controlled by an automatic sensor for lights to turn on and off by themselves. I am more than pleased with how professional Kyle and David were along with Steven who was co-ordinating all of the work and permits. They knew exactly what would look good and made all the decisions with design and placement of the lights and it turned out amazing. Very organized team, I was searching for a few companies and AC electric was in and out within one day, cleaned up after themselves, and showed up on time with no involvement from my end. Steven Thank you very much for all your help, also thank you Kyle and David for your hard work and effort.

Before you hire an electrician in Ontario

Yes, twice over. The person needs a 309A Certificate of Qualification; the business needs an ECRA/ESA Electrical Contractor Licence.

ECRA/ESA Electrical Contractor Licence

A seven-digit number that must appear on advertising, vehicles, quotes and invoices. If you cannot find it on the quote, ask - a licensed contractor is required to provide it.

Verify with: The Electrical Safety Authority publishes a contractor lookup at esasafe.com.

Certificate of Qualification, 309A Electrician

Held by the individual. A licensed contractor employs certified electricians and apprentices; the apprentices work under supervision.

Verify with: Skilled Trades Ontario maintains the public register.

ESA notification (the permit) for the specific job

Most work beyond replacing a light fixture requires the contractor to file a notification with ESA and have the work inspected. You should receive a Certificate of Acceptance when it passes. Keep it. You will want it when you sell.

Verify with: ESA confirms whether a notification was filed for your address.

General liability insurance and WSIB clearance

Two million in liability is standard. Electrical fires are the reason this is not a box-ticking exercise.

Questions worth asking

  • What is your ECRA/ESA licence number? (Then look it up before you sign anything.)
  • Will you file the ESA notification, and is the fee included in this price?
  • Will I receive the Certificate of Acceptance when the work passes inspection?
  • Is my panel at capacity? If this job needs a service upgrade, I want to know now rather than halfway through.
  • Who is physically doing the work - a certified electrician or an apprentice under supervision?
