Justin and his team were great to deal with. They were very professional and did the job to completion in great time. They were proactive, and finished the job fantastically. George, Tom and Ken all worked very hard from start to finish. I was very impressed and would recommend 519 Painters to any other business or friend. Thanks so much for your professionalism and expertise.

We are fully satisfied by the job done at our home in Byron by 519 Painters. They painted the walls of the whole house, including the basement, in 6 days which was well within the time frame they had announced. The interaction with all the people involved was great in every regard, starting with Isaac who gave us a quote and treated us well, with Maria-Jose who gave us valuable design advice, Erin who, as a team manager, was always on top of things and came regularly to oversee the progress, and with all the painters. Some of the latter came only one day, others more frequently; and one of them, Scott, everyday. All very nice and hard-working people. Special mention deserve Omar, Tom and Scott. They were very nice and professional. We enjoyed having them around and we will miss them. Special thanks to Scott. He gained our hearts and admiration. He is a true professional, careful, attentive to every detail and in every regard, and extremely efficient. We recommend Painters 519 without reservations! They did a wonderful job!

I couldn't happier with the work done by 519 Painters! From start to finish, the experience was smooth, professional, and exceeded all expectations. Sam was punctual, respectful, and incredibly detail-oriented. He took the time to properly prep every surface and left my home looking absolutely stunning. What impressed me most was their clear communication and commitment to getting the job done right. They stayed on schedule, and cleaned up thoroughly once the job was finished. If you’re looking for a trustworthy, skilled, and efficient painting company, look no further. I highly recommend them!!! And here is a few pictures.

519 Painters are very good to work with. They do a very thorough job start to finish. The warranty is an indication of the quality of the work they do. We will definitely be calling them again for any future painting requirements. Harold & Shelley

We were looking to have a relatively small exterior job done on our house and we noticed that 519 Painters were doing a lot of work in our neighbourhood. From the time we called them for a quote to the end of the job we were super impressed with their professionalism and the quality of their work. George came with the initial quote and explained all about the company and showed us examples of the work they had done. We were immediately impressed. We agreed to have the work done and were contacted a few days later by Josh, the project manager on the job. He came with a couple of the painters and went over in detail what we wanted done. They started the day we agreed upon and the attention to detail in their prep work was excellent. They worked independently asked us just a couple of times to confirm details of small sections of the project. We were totally satisfied with the end result and Josh came once it was finished to review everything with us. I would highly recommend 519 Painters and we will definitely be going to them for any future painting projects.

Before you hire a painter in Ontario

No provincial licence required. Insurance and a clear written scope carry the weight here.

General liability insurance

Covers overspray on a neighbour's car, damage to flooring, and ladder incidents. Ask for the certificate.

WSIB clearance

Especially relevant for exterior work at height. Many small painting operations are owner-operators who may be exempt - ask them to confirm their status in writing either way.

Lead-safe work practices for pre-1980 homes

Sanding old paint can disturb lead. A painter working on an older home should be able to describe how they contain dust.

Questions worth asking

  • What preparation is included - filling, sanding, caulking, priming?
  • How many coats, and is primer counted as one of them?
  • What paint product and finish line are you using? (Brand alone does not say much; the product line does.)
  • Does the quote include ceilings, trim, doors and closet interiors, or walls only?
  • How are floors, furniture and fixtures protected?
