We spent 4 nights and enjoyed ourselves. 1) The room was spacious and clean. We had a ground floor room which required us to keep the curtains closed for privacy but otherwise was very nice. We were located in Bldg 14 which is right next to the hilltop pool. The resort is very hilly so if you have mobility problems check your unit location (base of resort vs hills). We liked being up at the top of the hill by the pool. 2) The hilltop pool was our favorite feature of this resort. Great views and the swim up bar was super convenient. Also liked being able to have food delivered from the restaurant to poolside. Other activities at the resort include the catamaran for snorkeling and sunset cruises. 3) The resort beach is lacking (very washed out). It does have some chairs to sit by the water if that is your thing. We did not have a big problem with sargassum seaweed, but it varies based on time of year. If you want to roll out of bed and go to a nice beach book somewhere else. Coki beach is walkable but very crowded and smells of marijuana. They have resort transport to another beach close by but we did not go there. We took the ferry to St. Johns and enjoyed the beaches in the national park (parking is very limited so go early if you take a car over) 4) Restaurant. Fish Tacos and Island Taco Salad were very good. The cheeseburger in paradise was disappointing. The drinks were good and there were lots of options. If you want fancier fare, you have to go off resort. 5) Car vs no car. There does appear to be plenty of van/safari trucks for getting around if you don't want to drive on the island. We had a car so the free parking was nice. It gave us flexibility to get around on our schedule but parking at other sites is somewhat of a challenge. The roads are narrow, hilly and have potholes and driving on the left requires your attention. Pick a rental car with some ground clearance (compact SUV worked for us).

I would highly recommend Margaritaville if you are staying in St Thomas for a short time! The staff is very helpful and there are free rides around the resort and to nearby beaches. We did however still spend a lot on taxis to go to restaurants and to St John. We stayed for a total of three days and the location provided just enough activities for that time. I think if we were to stay longer I would book a second stay some where else just so we don’t have to commute as much. At the resort, there is a beach and Coki beach is walkable as well. There are a couple of pools and restaurants. I also called ahead of time and requested if we could have a room with a view which we got! Overall loved it!

We had a great stay at Margaritaville. Though the beach was not the best for swimming, there were two great pools. Also the resort was centrally located to easily reach great beaches and the Redhook restaurant district. I must give a shoutout to the great front desk staff, Curtis, Kishna, Niesha, Tay and Delma, who proved to be very caring, and resourceful as they helped us upon learning that VRBO had cancelled us the night before our arrival. Thanks for being a great team and making our stay memorable.

Our stay at Margaritaville Vacation Club was absolutely incredible, and a huge part of that was because of Xena at the front desk and Curtis Griffin, Guest Services Supervisor. From the moment we arrived, Xena made my entire family feel welcome, comfortable, and appreciated. She was kind, patient, and attentive—not just to me, but to everyone in my family. She made sure our check-in was smooth and that we had everything we needed to start our vacation off right. Curtis truly went above and beyond. His professionalism, leadership, and genuine care for guests stood out immediately. He took time to make sure my family was happy, comfortable, and taken care of throughout our stay. You can tell he truly cares about creating great experiences, not just doing his job. Both Xena and Curtis treated my family with respect, warmth, and kindness, which made our trip even more special. It wasn’t just good customer service—it was real hospitality. Because of them, our vacation was stress-free, memorable, and enjoyable from start to finish. We are so grateful for everything they did and will absolutely be coming back and recommending this resort to others. Thank you, Xena and Curtis, for making our family feel truly valued!

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here. Everyone was so sweet and welcoming (special shoutout to the girls at the coffee shop, you rock!) The pools were gorgeous, clean, and had plenty of seating available. We planned to visit other beaches, so not having the perfect beach at the resort was not an issue for us personally. We ended almost every night sitting by the water listening to the entertainment they had nearby. The location felt centralized to wherever you may want to explore on the island. Taxis were always ready to go and parking was easy. There isn’t much you can walk to if leaving the resort, so keep that in mind. We would definitely recommend staying here!
Before you hire a pool builder in Ontario
Pool building itself is not a licensed trade, but the electrical work is, and the enclosure permit is mandatory.
Municipal pool enclosure permit
Required in essentially every Ontario municipality, usually before excavation begins. Bylaws specify fence height, gate self-closing and self-latching hardware, and how soon the enclosure must be in place. Enforcement is real and the liability if a child accesses an unfenced pool is severe.
Verify with: Your municipality's building or bylaw department.
ESA notification for pool electrical and bonding
Pool electrical must be installed by a licensed electrical contractor, and the metal structure must be bonded. This requires an ESA notification and inspection.
Verify with: The Electrical Safety Authority, esasafe.com.

Questions worth asking
- What is the total installed cost including electrical, gas, decking, fencing and landscape restoration?
- Who pulls the enclosure permit, and when must the fence be up relative to excavation?
- Which licensed electrical contractor are you using, and will I receive the ESA Certificate of Acceptance?
- What is the realistic installation window, and what happens if it slips past the season?
- How is my deposit protected, and what is refundable if you cannot start?
