Replacing Windows & Doors can be a daunting task, to say the least. What colour, style, energy efficiency and cost all matter. While working with Meloche Windows, we had the best experience and love the choices we made through their recommendations. Thank you all again, for keeping us warm, stylized & in budget, especially this winter! Lynda & Kevin

An amazing experience from the time their estimator walked in. He went over and above before he was given the job. I knew the moment he left the house that he was the guy to go with. Then came the ordering process. She was also amazing and worked with us to change up the design to better fit our needs. Next is the installation. A crew of 2 amazing guys. The leader was obviously skilled with lots of experience. He was a great teacher for his younger partner. Absolutely beyond satisfied with the staff and service we got from Meloche Windows! And the window is gorgeous and is exactly what we wanted. Thanks guys!

After being allowed to re-open due to a delay from Co-vid, our three replacement windows are now in and we love everything about them. Working with Meloche Windows has been a pleasure, starting with our salesperson Paul who visited our home to quote several windows and give us options. He then met us at the showroom, where we were introduced to Mike who is involved with making the windows. Mike helped explain the technology and process, showing us why Meloche Windows stand out above others. There were a few issues to work around - high windows above a structured awning, grills and trim that are no longer available, plus custom blinds. Rick and his crew did a great job. Their workmanship was excellent, right to the smallest detail. The new trim package is beautiful plus they found a way to match the existing grills of our other windows. Everyone on the crew was respectful of us and our home. Booties and masks were worn when needed and they did a good job with clean up, even thoroughly vacuuming fifteen stairs. The president of the company, Elise, stepped in with some of the details, ensuring we were completely satisfied with our windows and the finished product. Any comments we made were well received, it was obvious she is proud of her company and wants it to be the best it can be. Her professionalism and personality shone through and because of this we made the decision to replace an additional five windows. Can’t wait to get them in! I would have no problem in recommending Meloche windows to family and friends. Five Stars
Before you hire a window and door installer in Ontario
No provincial licence is required. Installation quality is governed by manufacturer specification and the Ontario Building Code rather than by a trade certificate.
General liability insurance and WSIB clearance
Standard checks. Window installation involves ladder work and heavy glass.
Manufacturer-trained installer status
Matters more than usual here, because most window warranties are voided by installation that departs from the manufacturer specification.
Building permit for new or enlarged openings
Replacing a window in an existing opening generally does not need one. Cutting a new opening, or enlarging one for a basement egress window, generally does.
Verify with: Your municipal building department confirms what your specific job requires.
ENERGY STAR certification for the product
Relevant if you intend to claim any efficiency rebate, which typically requires certified products and documentation.
Questions worth asking
- Is this a retrofit or a full-frame installation? What would the other one cost?
- How is the gap between the window and the rough opening insulated and air-sealed?
- Is exterior capping included, and in what colour and material?
- Is the warranty on the glass seal, the frame, and the labour - and are they different lengths?
- Is the warranty transferable if I sell the house?
