We stayed here for 5 nights. Loved the privacy with a private pool for each condo. Great location 7-10 minutes walk to sapphire Beach, 5 minute drive to red hook. The garden shower was also pretty neat. Most condos are reasonably priced on Air BnB. I will definitely stay here again

Perfect location on the east end close to the ferry's, restaurants, shopping, beautiful beaches. The Villa itself is perfect for families with kids or just couples. This is our second stay and still highly recommend

Pavilions and Pools is one of the best kept secrets on St Thomas. Each villa is privately owned. Some are nice (3-star) and some are very, very nice (5-star). One of the things I love most about staying here is that each unit has it's own private pool, larger than average living areas, private bedroom (not an efficiency apartment set up with the bed in the living room) and full kitchens. Oh, and the bathrooms with garden showers are really cool. After a fun day at two of the best beaches on the island, just steps away from your villa, you can come "home" and relax in your very own pool. For dinner or drinks, one of the island's best restaurants is located on property, Pangea. It has amazing food and cocktails, and the atmosphere is so serene. It's like dining in a tree house. You've got to check it out. P&P is just a 5 minute drive to Red Hook, which is the entertainment district of St Thomas and also where you can catch the ferry to St John. The East End of St Thomas has everything you need for a vacation of a lifetime! Staying at Pavilions and Pools is the cherry on top!

Overall, this is a decent Villa. The private pool is the best part by far. We brought a $10 floaty and really took advantage of it. Besides that, it what you would expect from what feels like a place that was built in the 60's (don't know if it was). Is there a missing outlet cover, sure. Is the toaster broken, yup. Are the folding doors janky, of course, but there is great WiFi, stunning views, decent AC and overall a decent place for the money. I would stay there again simply for the pool. Check it out, I think you'll like it. We stayed in Villa 108 that was a tad outdated but there are other Villas that have been recently renovated. All the villas are privately owned so you need to look at the pics. The place is a 3 minute walk from the Sapphire Resort where you can take advantage of the beach, bar and restaurants. They also have taxis waiting to take you where you want to go. That is a great perk. We stayed for 7 days and saved hundreds using taxis instead of renting a car. The roads are nuts, and the traffic is even worse. There are taxis everywhere, so there is no problem getting one. That is my 2 cents. Enjoy your stay.

This was a great little place - went with my husband and it was the best vacation! Having a private pool was so convenient after a hot day at the beach. We stayed in 106 - owner very attentive and helpful. Had a welcome basket with snacks and water we were grateful after a long trip. And had beach chairs and a cooler - best rental ever. It's the little things that make your vacation more relaxing - the cooler was a life saver. Clean place, quiet, wildlife daily! Want to go back soon.

Before you hire a pool builder in Ontario

Pool building itself is not a licensed trade, but the electrical work is, and the enclosure permit is mandatory.

Municipal pool enclosure permit

Required in essentially every Ontario municipality, usually before excavation begins. Bylaws specify fence height, gate self-closing and self-latching hardware, and how soon the enclosure must be in place. Enforcement is real and the liability if a child accesses an unfenced pool is severe.

Verify with: Your municipality's building or bylaw department.

ESA notification for pool electrical and bonding

Pool electrical must be installed by a licensed electrical contractor, and the metal structure must be bonded. This requires an ESA notification and inspection.

Verify with: The Electrical Safety Authority, esasafe.com.

Utility locates before excavation

Legally required. Gas and hydro service lines cross yards at unpredictable depths.

Verify with: Ontario One Call.

General liability insurance and WSIB clearance

Excavation near a house foundation carries real risk. Confirm coverage amounts.

Questions worth asking

  • What is the total installed cost including electrical, gas, decking, fencing and landscape restoration?
  • Who pulls the enclosure permit, and when must the fence be up relative to excavation?
  • Which licensed electrical contractor are you using, and will I receive the ESA Certificate of Acceptance?
  • What is the realistic installation window, and what happens if it slips past the season?
  • How is my deposit protected, and what is refundable if you cannot start?
