We stayed at the Ritz Carlton St Thomas back in December during the holiday season, and it was a truly wonderful stay. Special thanks to the Director, Joe, and Adriana for going above and beyond to ensure a memorable and relaxed stay! As well as the outstanding Front Desk associates, Kimora and Jolisa. It was my first time visiting St Thomas, and the expertise was wonderful. The resort offered top-notch amenities and 5-star service. The one-bedroom suite provided a panoramic view of the bay and surrounding islands, making you appreciate mother nature - warm decor throughout the room with excellent fixtures. The highlight of the stay is the white-sand beach, with a range of on-site water sports. Highly recommend this property to leisure travelers and I look forward to returning.

We just stayed at The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas in Feb and just got back, and we had the best time. From start to finish, everything felt smooth and welcoming. From check in, they had the crib, highchair, pack and play set up, and the two twin beds pushed together when we got in our rooms just like i requested. Our condo was super clean. Every single staff member we encountered greeted us warmly. Even the woman at the gate security, whose name I wish I could remember, welcomed us each day with the biggest smile. It set the tone right away. We had zero issues with check-in, check-out, or parking. Everything was easy and accessible, which made a big difference traveling as a group of eight with one toddler and one 3 month old baby. Huge shoutout to Aaliyah, the Customer Communications Agent, and our housemaid Sonia. They both went above and beyond. Sonia was incredible and took such great care of us all week. We were celebrating two birthdays and they surprised us with a birthday cake, which was such a thoughtful touch. We stayed on the Club side and the accommodations were perfect for our family. The kitchen was well stocked, everything was clean and comfortable, and we loved being able to use the pools and hot tub at night. The pools were amazing - clean and the perfect temperature. The only small note is that the Club side hot tub felt closer to 105 degrees and was a bit too hot to fully enjoy. If that were turned down slightly, it would be perfect. The resort is very kid friendly with tons of pools for them. My niece loved snow cone day. We do wish the kids club allowed children under four, but it was not a big deal. We still had a great time!! All of the pool staff were wonderful. Towels were always stocked, bathrooms were clean and well maintained, and service overall was great. The only downside was that food service by the pool was a bit slow. Both days we ordered a quesadilla and it took about 45 minutes to an hour to arrive, but it was sooooo good! We also wish there had been music playing around the pools during the day since it felt a little quiet at times. They had steel drums on the Monday we were there and it completely transformed the atmosphere. It was so fun and festive. We wish that was offered more often because it was so good! The coffee shop is expensive but very good. We had breakfast at Bleuwater and it was excellent. My sister’s French toast and my breakfast burrito were both incredible. We also loved cookie hour and turndown service - such great little touches. Another huge highlight was the Lady Lynsey catamaran. We booked the Soggy Dollar tour and it was amazing. We snorkeled in St. John, went to Jost, and they handled all the passport and customs details for us. The boat was spotless and well maintained, and we had an absolute blast. Being able to hop right on in front of the resort made it even better. Overall, we truly loved our stay and are already talking about coming back. It was such a special trip for our family.

We arrived for a wedding Feb 20 -22. We received the discounted rate which was still way overpriced. The room was clean but that's about all there was to say positive about this location. The daily rate, plus resort fees simply weren't worth what we received. This resort is living off the Ritz Carlton reputation and quite frankly, running it into the ground. Do your research. There are other places that offer just as much for much less.

We just recently stayed for our school vacation week . We are family of 5 and we were coming to celebrate my son’s 13th bday! The hotel was fully occupied that week because of school vacation week for boston and New York but two main managers made sure that our stay was wonderful ; from the hotel room we got, to the surprise gifts for my son to the dining experience and overall service was superb ! I would highly recommend! Whether it’s a quick weekend trip or a family trip ; there are a lot of things to do on the property; two large pools ; Aldo one in the residencies where you can go and they have a volleyball net to the basketball hop to the tennis court and 24 hour gym Hotel is also conveniently located to the port just a few minutes away by boat which runs every hour if you want to escape for a day to St. John which has amazing beaches ! We did that for two days . Dining options are good as well , the wait time was a little bit of a problem so I would suggest making a reservation but we did go one of the most busy weeks !! Overall a great stay for my family ! Will def be back soon! Highly recommend ! Thanks to manager Joe and Marc that you made this stay very special for us !! See you all soon again !

What a wonderful luxury resort! We are grateful to the manager Joe who was extremely helpful in upgrading our room to an outstanding Oceanview Suite and ensuring satisfaction throughout our stay. We enjoyed every minute and are planning to return with our children and grandchildren. All of the staff are super friendly, kind and courteous. My breakfast omelete was excellent. The whole experience was over the top. So glad we chose to come here. Can't wait to go back.

Before you hire a pool builder in Ontario

Pool building itself is not a licensed trade, but the electrical work is, and the enclosure permit is mandatory.

Municipal pool enclosure permit

Required in essentially every Ontario municipality, usually before excavation begins. Bylaws specify fence height, gate self-closing and self-latching hardware, and how soon the enclosure must be in place. Enforcement is real and the liability if a child accesses an unfenced pool is severe.

Verify with: Your municipality's building or bylaw department.

ESA notification for pool electrical and bonding

Pool electrical must be installed by a licensed electrical contractor, and the metal structure must be bonded. This requires an ESA notification and inspection.

Verify with: The Electrical Safety Authority, esasafe.com.

Check The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas on the official register

Utility locates before excavation

Legally required. Gas and hydro service lines cross yards at unpredictable depths.

Verify with: Ontario One Call.

General liability insurance and WSIB clearance

Excavation near a house foundation carries real risk. Confirm coverage amounts.

Questions worth asking

  • What is the total installed cost including electrical, gas, decking, fencing and landscape restoration?
  • Who pulls the enclosure permit, and when must the fence be up relative to excavation?
  • Which licensed electrical contractor are you using, and will I receive the ESA Certificate of Acceptance?
  • What is the realistic installation window, and what happens if it slips past the season?
  • How is my deposit protected, and what is refundable if you cannot start?
