Highly recommend Crawford Electrical. Very pleased with the high quality of work. Trevor and team are very professional, communicative, and ready for any job. They make sure the installation is done right, and logically! I hired them to replace a bathroom fan and install timer switches. Was very happy with the work and called them again to replace my under cabinet lighting. The lighting was a complex one, as the previous lights had not been installed properly and the project required fixing some questionable decisions left from before I moved in. Good news is, they are well-prepared to make sure the project works out smoothly. Eugene is extremely professional, thorough, and does high quality work. Def go with Crawford for your electical needs!

Trevor and his team are fantastic. They are practical, responsive and do great work. We've used them for replacing light fixtures, bathroom fan and rewiring our house to have an outdoor sauna, and all our experiences have been great. Will definitely keep using them as we have electrical needs.

Trevor Crawford and his team are skilled professionals who work efficiently, arrive on time, and perform high quality work. They recently replaced knob and tube wiring throughout our entire 96 year old home. The team took great care to minimise the damaged to walls and wallpaper, while installing new wiring, switches, outlets and ceiling light / fan fixtures. They are polite, considerate and very focused on ensuring that every detail is properly managed. We have called upon Crawford Electrical Contracting on several occasions in the past. Trevor is our go-to electrical expert. We highly recommend his firm, and team.

Before you hire an electrician in Ontario

Yes, twice over. The person needs a 309A Certificate of Qualification; the business needs an ECRA/ESA Electrical Contractor Licence.

ECRA/ESA Electrical Contractor Licence

A seven-digit number that must appear on advertising, vehicles, quotes and invoices. If you cannot find it on the quote, ask - a licensed contractor is required to provide it.

Certificate of Qualification, 309A Electrician

Held by the individual. A licensed contractor employs certified electricians and apprentices; the apprentices work under supervision.

ESA notification (the permit) for the specific job

Most work beyond replacing a light fixture requires the contractor to file a notification with ESA and have the work inspected. You should receive a Certificate of Acceptance when it passes. Keep it. You will want it when you sell.

Two million in liability is standard. Electrical fires are the reason this is not a box-ticking exercise.

Questions worth asking

What is your ECRA/ESA licence number? (Then look it up before you sign anything.)
Will you file the ESA notification, and is the fee included in this price?
Will I receive the Certificate of Acceptance when the work passes inspection?
Is my panel at capacity? If this job needs a service upgrade, I want to know now rather than halfway through.
Who is physically doing the work - a certified electrician or an apprentice under supervision?
