This is not the first time we hired D.M. Roofing, they gave us a super affordable price and the job was done on a historically designated town house in Sydenham Ward Kingston, No trouble with tenants or neighbours, everything cleaned up better than before they arrived! They even cleaned out our clogged up eavestroughs full of maple keys and saplings! These are the roofers of choice if you have a serious re-roofing project in mind! Five Stars

DM Roofing did our roof and they were very thorough and pleasant to work with. We did research before hiring a contractor and found DM Roofing has been in business for almost 30 years, and has immaculate standings with the Better Business and they won 2 years running of the People choice awards , therefore I was wondering why there was such a bad review?

DM Roofing were very polite and respectful. They did a nice job on our roof and for a fair price. After the job was done, they did a great job to clean up after themselves. I would recommend them as roofers. Thanks again guys for a job well done.🙂

Recently had a tricky 130 year old Mansard roof re-shingled and flashed. Darren and Joey are the absolutely best roofers we have ever dealt with in 45 years in business! They worked straight back to back 7 day weeks until the project was completed to our utter satisfaction! Turned our property into a true historic gem! Their work ethic and commitment to getting the job done ahead of schedule was truly impressive! If we could we would give them six stars!

Highly recommend DM Roofing. Joey and his friend (sorry didn't get his name) were very polite and hard working. They went over and beyond to get job done correctly. Even finished cleaning up as it began to rain. Great job to everyone there.

Before you hire a roofer in Ontario

No. Roofing is not a compulsory trade in Ontario, so there is no licence to verify - which makes insurance and WSIB coverage the checks that matter.

WSIB clearance certificate

The most important document in this trade. Ask for a current certificate and confirm it names the company doing your work, not a subcontractor you have never met. It should be dated within the last 90 days.

General liability insurance

Two million dollars minimum for residential roofing. Request the certificate of insurance directly from the broker rather than a photocopy, and confirm the policy is current.

Manufacturer shingle certification

Optional but meaningful. Manufacturers certify installers, and certification is what unlocks the extended system warranty. Without it you have a material warranty only, which covers far less than most homeowners assume.

Municipal business licence

Some Ontario municipalities require one. Not universal, but easy to ask about.

Questions worth asking

Can I see a current WSIB clearance certificate and your liability certificate of insurance?
Is this a full tear-off, or shingling over the existing layer? (Overlays are cheaper and shorten roof life.)
How much ice and water shield is included, and how far up from the eave?
Are you certified by the shingle manufacturer, and does this quote include the system warranty or only the material warranty?
What happens if you find rotten decking? What is the per-sheet price, and will you show me before replacing it?
