I found Matt and his crew to be knowledgable, dependable, courteous and professional. The prices are within the norm, but where they shine is in execution. Their work is impeccable. Bottom line is that I feel they've given me more than I've paid for. I trust their advice and the scope of work they suggest. Thank you for your service, Matt.

Gable 2 Gable has done excellent work, they did my whole roof and recently fixed & replaced a fascia. They provide a very competitive quote and show up and do the work exactly when they say they will. I find their response to be quick and the work done is excellent! They stand by their work and provide a guarantee on everything they do. For any roofing work or issues I will always contact and use Gable 2 Gable as they are very reliable. Many thanks!!!

Gable 2 Gable made everything so much more tolerable. They provided excellent service and affordable pricing. They were prompt and provided quality service. Our roof is still going strong years later

I was lucky to find Matt and G2G Renovations when I was looking to fix my eavestroughs and put gutter guards on them. We had over-the-top sell jobs from other eavestrough companies who claimed only their technology would keep leaves out of our gutters, and who charged big bucks for it. Luckily, Gable 2 Gable came through with a reasonable price and quality work in a very short time. We're very happy with their work.

I hired Matthew from Gable 2 Gable to do my roof and the quality of work is fantastic. They did a great clean up job as well which was much appreciated. Exceptional service and warranty. They have since done my sister, grandmother and friends roof as well. Would definitely recommend their services.

Before you hire a roofer in Ontario

No. Roofing is not a compulsory trade in Ontario, so there is no licence to verify - which makes insurance and WSIB coverage the checks that matter.

WSIB clearance certificate

The most important document in this trade. Ask for a current certificate and confirm it names the company doing your work, not a subcontractor you have never met. It should be dated within the last 90 days.

Verify with: WSIB clearance certificates can be validated online by the account number.

General liability insurance

Two million dollars minimum for residential roofing. Request the certificate of insurance directly from the broker rather than a photocopy, and confirm the policy is current.

Manufacturer shingle certification

Optional but meaningful. Manufacturers certify installers, and certification is what unlocks the extended system warranty. Without it you have a material warranty only, which covers far less than most homeowners assume.

Municipal business licence

Some Ontario municipalities require one. Not universal, but easy to ask about.

Questions worth asking

  • Can I see a current WSIB clearance certificate and your liability certificate of insurance?
  • Is this a full tear-off, or shingling over the existing layer? (Overlays are cheaper and shorten roof life.)
  • How much ice and water shield is included, and how far up from the eave?
  • Are you certified by the shingle manufacturer, and does this quote include the system warranty or only the material warranty?
  • What happens if you find rotten decking? What is the per-sheet price, and will you show me before replacing it?
