Great job for a great price. Neil was great to work with in securing a quote and answering follow up questions. Quality product used. Mark led the on site team and did a wonderful installation and clean up. Would highly recommend them.

Paul Bible

We highly recommend Prestige Roofing. Neil, Mark, and Ben were fantastic. Very professional, took the time to explain everything to us, and did an amazing job. Thanks guys.

Karla Thompson-MacDonald

I cannot sing the praises of Prestige roofing enough! It has been a great experience from start to finish. Neil and his team have done exceptional work and communicated with us throughout the job. As new home owners, we had many questions and they answered them all with patience and honesty. They are puntional, kind, and a talented bunch.

Lulu Belle

Couldn't ask for a better experience. They showed up when they were supposed to and honoured the original quote even though much time had passed. Most importantly though was the quality of the final product... I honestly couldn't be happier! Thanks guys!!!

I would give zero stars if I could! Should have known by the look of these guys they were shady! We did our due diligence and looked at many company's before choosing one. Our mistake - Choosing based on product, not installer. They were the most disrespectful and unprofessional company we have had do work for us. Charged for work on the quote that was never performed and almost made me a widower at 33 with their poor vent patch work when my husband found it with his foot! Then the son-in-law called me a liar and "unreasonable" when I told them I wasn't happy with having to spend 4 hours cleaning my own eaves troughs when they put it on the bill. They all wore harnesses, but were never tied off to anything, so it was just for show. They had to return twice to make repairs in the first week after doing the job. We went out of our way and bought them lunch, and they couldn't even do us the courtesy of picking up their cigarette butts. Then said they took pictures of the roof, so if anything happens, "it's on us". We now find ourselves very concerned about the workmanship and wonder if we can trust the most important aspect of our home!

Before you hire a roofer in Ontario

No. Roofing is not a compulsory trade in Ontario, so there is no licence to verify - which makes insurance and WSIB coverage the checks that matter.

WSIB clearance certificate

The most important document in this trade. Ask for a current certificate and confirm it names the company doing your work, not a subcontractor you have never met. It should be dated within the last 90 days.

Verify with: WSIB clearance certificates can be validated online by the account number.

General liability insurance

Two million dollars minimum for residential roofing. Request the certificate of insurance directly from the broker rather than a photocopy, and confirm the policy is current.

Manufacturer shingle certification

Optional but meaningful. Manufacturers certify installers, and certification is what unlocks the extended system warranty. Without it you have a material warranty only, which covers far less than most homeowners assume.

Municipal business licence

Some Ontario municipalities require one. Not universal, but easy to ask about.

Questions worth asking

  • Can I see a current WSIB clearance certificate and your liability certificate of insurance?
  • Is this a full tear-off, or shingling over the existing layer? (Overlays are cheaper and shorten roof life.)
  • How much ice and water shield is included, and how far up from the eave?
  • Are you certified by the shingle manufacturer, and does this quote include the system warranty or only the material warranty?
  • What happens if you find rotten decking? What is the per-sheet price, and will you show me before replacing it?
