I had a breaker issue that needed urgent repair in my rented condo unit. Grey was super quick, went there the next morning and fixed the problem. Pictures were provided and I was explained what the problem was. Highly recommend Grey’s expertise and service for fixing electrical issues.

Meta van den Heuvel

Excellent communication & service. Detailed work and very reliable. He had to install a new plug which was difficult because of our old house. Provided different options and collaborated well with our closet installer.

We have used Regal for all our condominium electrical work. Grey is 100% professional, punctual, efficient, courteous, personable, and honest. I count that as above and beyond a five star service. Thank you Grey. We will be calling for your services again.

I had an excellent experience with Grey, an electrician who is not only skilled but also exceptionally professional. When I faced an electrical issue, I reached out to him, and he was incredibly helpful over the phone. Grey's approach to customer service is commendable. For anyone looking for a reliable and honest electrician, I highly recommend Grey. His expertise and dedication to helping his clients are truly noteworthy.

Grey of Regal Electrical Services provided excellent and timely service, was courteous and helpful, and ensured I was a satisfied customer. I needed someone to replace some outlets to bring them up to code. Grey worked with me to easily schedule the job, communicated with me clearly and frequently since I couldn’t be on site, and completed the work efficiently. He and my neighbor tested the results, and Grey sent me pictures of the work completed to satisfaction. I would absolutely recommend Grey. He was reliable, trustworthy, and delivered on the expectations he set. Thank you for the good service!

Before you hire an electrician in Ontario

Yes, twice over. The person needs a 309A Certificate of Qualification; the business needs an ECRA/ESA Electrical Contractor Licence.

ECRA/ESA Electrical Contractor Licence

A seven-digit number that must appear on advertising, vehicles, quotes and invoices. If you cannot find it on the quote, ask - a licensed contractor is required to provide it.

Verify with: The Electrical Safety Authority publishes a contractor lookup at esasafe.com.

Certificate of Qualification, 309A Electrician

Held by the individual. A licensed contractor employs certified electricians and apprentices; the apprentices work under supervision.

Verify with: Skilled Trades Ontario maintains the public register.

ESA notification (the permit) for the specific job

Most work beyond replacing a light fixture requires the contractor to file a notification with ESA and have the work inspected. You should receive a Certificate of Acceptance when it passes. Keep it. You will want it when you sell.

Verify with: ESA confirms whether a notification was filed for your address.

General liability insurance and WSIB clearance

Two million in liability is standard. Electrical fires are the reason this is not a box-ticking exercise.

Questions worth asking

  • What is your ECRA/ESA licence number? (Then look it up before you sign anything.)
  • Will you file the ESA notification, and is the fee included in this price?
  • Will I receive the Certificate of Acceptance when the work passes inspection?
  • Is my panel at capacity? If this job needs a service upgrade, I want to know now rather than halfway through.
  • Who is physically doing the work - a certified electrician or an apprentice under supervision?
