Dan did a great job refreshing our main floor. He was timely, professional and great to deal with throughout. Definitely plan to use him again!

Jenna Fox

Dan helped us figure out an HVAC issue we had that was causing hot/cold spots in our floors when our furance was running heat/ac. He was professional, found the best solution to the problem and got it done quickly! On top of that, he took care and pride in his work and it's undetectable where the repairs took place.

Linda Nielsen Taylor

Completely happy with Dan’s work repairing and refinishing our living room ceiling. Prompt, professional and thorough. Drywall looks fantastic and the cleanup exceptional.

Maria Platon

Dan did not rush with his work. He took his time and paid attention to details. His work was excellent and we were highly satisfied with the end result. Would not hesitate to recommend him.

Kendra Haldenby

Dan Rovere did an exceptional renovation for us. He took our dated condo and made it into a space we love. Dan took the time to view the space, write down all measurements, and listen to what we wanted to achieve. His guidance, suggestions and knowledge were helpful, and he took the time to answer our questions. The work came in slightly under budget and on time. We were very pleased with Dan's services, his professionalism & expertise, and open communication were paramount. If you have the opportunity to secure Rovere Construction & Painting, do it. Highly recommend Dan for your contracting needs. Services performed: flooring removal (carpet) and installation (LVP) through out entire condo, painting services (ceiling, walls, and everything else tip to tail), counter top removal and installation, kitchen cupboard refresh, and baseboard repairs.

Before you hire a painter in Ontario

No provincial licence required. Insurance and a clear written scope carry the weight here.

General liability insurance

Covers overspray on a neighbour's car, damage to flooring, and ladder incidents. Ask for the certificate.

WSIB clearance

Especially relevant for exterior work at height. Many small painting operations are owner-operators who may be exempt - ask them to confirm their status in writing either way.

Lead-safe work practices for pre-1980 homes

Sanding old paint can disturb lead. A painter working on an older home should be able to describe how they contain dust.

Questions worth asking

  • What preparation is included - filling, sanding, caulking, priming?
  • How many coats, and is primer counted as one of them?
  • What paint product and finish line are you using? (Brand alone does not say much; the product line does.)
  • Does the quote include ceilings, trim, doors and closet interiors, or walls only?
  • How are floors, furniture and fixtures protected?
