I hired Alex to do some renovations in my condo and in particular my bathroom. Alex was patient with me from the beginning explaining to me how things would get done and understood what I was looking for. I really appreciated his solution based attitude and attention to detail, he is very precise and organized in his work. He has a great personality and reliable to work with. I certainly would recommend him and will be using him on my future projects.

We hired Alex because we heard he had an eye for detail. Fortunately for us, his obsession with exact measurements turned into quality framing for our fireplace media unit. He stayed late to make sure it was perfect. Looking forward to applying stone onto his straight and precise built frame. Would love for Alex to be part of our future projects.

Before you hire a carpenter in Ontario

General carpentry is a voluntary trade in Ontario, not a compulsory one. A Certificate of Qualification exists and is a genuine signal, but it is not legally required.

Voluntary rather than compulsory, which makes it a useful differentiator. It indicates completed apprenticeship and a passed exam.

General liability insurance and WSIB clearance

Standard checks, particularly for structural and deck work.

Building permit for structural work and most decks

Ontario municipalities generally require a permit for decks above a certain height, any structural alteration, and load-bearing changes. Guard and railing heights are code-specified.
