Shane from Crawford Plumbing did an excellent job fixing my furnace. Another technician from a different company came earlier and did not service or clean the furnace properly. Shane fully serviced and cleaned it, found that the issue was with the gas valve, and got everything working again. He took the time to explain everything clearly and was very professional. If anything happens in the future, I will definitely be calling Shane only. Highly recommended.

If I could rate this higher, I would. Kelly and his team (Shane & Tolly) are absolutely amazing to work with. Quoting to fulfillment was a breeze, they made it easy to understand and they treated my wife, and I like friends and not just a sale. His team left the area just as clean or cleaner than it was when they started. This is exactly why people need to use local family-owned companies and not the big flashy corporate companies that just want that commission. I will definitely be calling them back for my AC unit when it dies. I highly recommend them. Great work fellas!

Kelly and Shayne were amazing to deal with. With converting to propane in the middle of no where in the country the scheduling challenges from the propane company were unreal. These guys bent over backwards and went out of their way to make sure I didn’t go a day with out heat. Such a clean job and very reasonably priced. These are honest guys that do good business and are beyond thorough. I can not thank them enough for their hard work and excellent service they provided. Myself and my kids will be nice and warm thanks to this company. Make this your first call you will not regret it, hard to find honest reliable trade these guys are a prime example of. Thank you so much. One happy customer.

Kelly and his team at Crawford Plumbing,Heating and Hvac provide top shelf service!!! We had a gas line leak on our buried line from the meter to the rear of my house. The gas had to be shut off leaving us with no heat,no hot water and no gas laundry dryer. Being -2 out when this happened he was all over it, recomended installing a new steel wall mounted line from the meter in, had his guys right out there to start threading pipe and installing it. Was soo nice not to have any issues or problems and 0 upcharges!!!! I got home from work, the heat was back on and i had hot water for my shower. The house was all locked back up and they cleaned everything up including removing the old gas pipe risers. Awesome Service you can trust at a great price!! I even offered to pay more when he told me what the total was and they would not accept!! Hands down the best service you could ask for, highly recommend using Crawford Plumbing Heating and Hvac for any of his services!!!

Before you hire an HVAC contractor in Ontario

Yes for the parts that matter. Gas work requires TSSA certification, and refrigerant work requires a 313A or 313D certificate plus environmental handling certification.

TSSA Gas Technician certificate (G1, G2 or G3)

Legally required for anyone connecting, servicing or venting gas-fired equipment. G2 covers most residential work; G3 is an entry level that must work under supervision.

Verify with: The Technical Standards and Safety Authority regulates fuel safety in Ontario.

Certificate of Qualification, 313A or 313D

313A is the full Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic; 313D is the residential air conditioning equivalent. Both are compulsory trades.

Verify with: Skilled Trades Ontario maintains the public register.

ODP / refrigerant handling certification

Required to legally purchase and handle refrigerant. Relevant to any AC or heat pump work.

Manufacturer certification for the equipment being installed

Not a legal requirement, but many manufacturer warranties are only valid when installed by a certified dealer. Ask before assuming you have a ten-year warranty.

Questions worth asking

  • Will you perform a heat loss and heat gain calculation, and can I see it?
  • Who on the crew holds the TSSA gas certificate, and at what level?
  • Is the equipment warranty conditional on registration or on installer certification?
  • What exactly is covered by your labour warranty, and for how long?
  • Does this quote include removal and disposal of the old equipment?
