I couldn't be more pleased with my experiences. The windows were installed sooner than expected, the crew went to great lengths to keep everything clean and as dust free as possible, and the windows are excellent quality. Luc was very informative in the consultation. During the installation, Greg, Sean, and Richard worked quickly and were very pleasant to have in my home. I think there may have been one more person whose name I didn't catch, but huge shout out to the whole team. Robin was also wonderful on the back end keeping us informed of timeline estimates every week. 10/10

This is my second time having a door purchased and installed from Douglas Windows and Doors and I couldn’t be happier! Graham was great to work with again showing me all the options and Greg/Sean and the team of installers were wonderful as well. I highly recommend this company for all your door and window needs!

From start to finish, my experience with Douglas Window & Door was absolutely exceptional! I had an outstanding experience working with Luc - he set the tone with his outstanding professionalism and his ability to combine expertise with genuine care. He was knowledgeable, patient, and incredibly attentive, always taking the time to explain details and answer questions thoroughly. His communication was timely and clear, he stayed on top of scheduling and follow-ups to ensure everything was on track and went smoothly. Luc consistently went above and beyond, truly earning my trust and making the entire process stress-free. The installation crew, Brandon (lead), Dylan, and Robert, were absolutely fantastic! Their communication was excellent, and they arrived on time every day, ready to work. The crew was organized and efficient, with a clear plan for tackling the installation, and they executed it flawlessly. What really stood out was their professionalism and courtesy. They were personable, respectful, and took great care of our home - containing any mess to the work areas and cleaning up thoroughly before leaving each day. Throughout the process, they kept us informed, explaining what they were doing, and walking us through what had been completed and what to expect next. Their knowledge and competence were evident, and the quality of their work exceeded my expectations. I was so impressed and confident with their workmanship that I specifically requested the same team to handle installations for my mom and also my aunt. They were referred to me by another happy customer and I cannot say enough great things about them to the people I have since recommended them to. Without hesitation, I highly recommend Douglas Window & Door!

Absolutely terrible install. Have to call them this morning for the second drafty window on a newer home they did the install messed it up came back messed it up again. Had some kid of the worker doing the work. Absolutely disgusting. Also have ignored emails about trim work. These guys are a joke. One step away from having another company come and do it right and forward these clowns the bill. What a joke. Brutal customer service typical sales ppl.

Before you hire a window and door installer in Ontario

No provincial licence is required. Installation quality is governed by manufacturer specification and the Ontario Building Code rather than by a trade certificate.

General liability insurance and WSIB clearance

Standard checks. Window installation involves ladder work and heavy glass.

Manufacturer-trained installer status

Matters more than usual here, because most window warranties are voided by installation that departs from the manufacturer specification.

Building permit for new or enlarged openings

Replacing a window in an existing opening generally does not need one. Cutting a new opening, or enlarging one for a basement egress window, generally does.

Verify with: Your municipal building department confirms what your specific job requires.

ENERGY STAR certification for the product

Relevant if you intend to claim any efficiency rebate, which typically requires certified products and documentation.

Questions worth asking

  • Is this a retrofit or a full-frame installation? What would the other one cost?
  • How is the gap between the window and the rough opening insulated and air-sealed?
  • Is exterior capping included, and in what colour and material?
  • Is the warranty on the glass seal, the frame, and the labour - and are they different lengths?
  • Is the warranty transferable if I sell the house?
