Not only do we use Golden Windows for our projects, we used them for our home as well. I have had a few instances where I needed service on our home's products, and I have never been disappointed with their customer service. They schedule you in and show up on time, every time. On the business side, we have gotten to know our delivery guys and they are the best. Rick H is a great Sales Rep as well. When one of our customers has an issue, I contact the customer service team on their behalf, and they start a ticket for the issue. Not one of our clients have complained about their products or service. A client from 2012 contacted me last year and Golden set up a ticket and handled their window issue. That, my friends, is Service!

I would like to recognize Bob & Hayden for doing a phenomenal job. They were courteous, polite and professional. They exceeded my expectations. They tidied up very well before they left. I have seen this kind of service in a long time. They also went above and beyond. Noticed that the front door was letting air in. They spent some time adjusting it and now it’s perfect. I highly recommend using this company for services and purchasing new windows. They delivered world class service!!! Keep up the great work gentlemen!!

Several years ago we installed many windows including a custom 8 ft by 8 ft wooden with metal clad sliding door from Golden Windows. I was initially satisfied with the product quality. However, when I attempted to make a warranty claim, I encountered significant challenges. Tarek, who handled my claim, was difficult to deal with and uncooperative. They also unfairly shifted the blame onto my contractor, who had worked with them during the installation. Ultimately, Golden Windows refused to cover a legitimate, warrantable claim, which was extremely disappointing. In summary, while the windows themselves are decent, the poor customer service and lack of support have left me thoroughly dissatisfied. Golden windows is to be considered a premium product to some however be aware if you do need to make a claim as customer service is absolutely horrific. For that reason alone I will no longer be purchasing gold on Windows product. In addition as a home inspector in the KW area I have always recommended golden windows products to my clients. This will no longer happen as I am extremely disappointed with the lack cooperation on a perfectly legitimate claim. Your response to my review was inaccurate. I ask you, was the installer who installed my sliding door ever a golden windows installer? We all know the answer is yes and he was a certified golden windows installer through your team.

Coming from a trip we found our house broken by burglars. They smashed the back patio door which was a non-standard size. We don't want anybody to go through that experience. After we called the police, we called our insurance which gave us some options to choose from to solve this issue. So we've chosen the first option which was to let PuroClean Restoration to take care of everything because they guaranteed the quality of the job. Shortly after that they've sent Alex from Golden Windows Kitchener to take the measurements. They've let us know that it's going to take some time because of the nonstandard size of the door. But they told us the exact day when it will be ready and everything was done perfectly. We were very impressed by the installers, Alex and James from Golden Windows Kitchener. For me to see such young guys doing an excellent professional job is very encouraging. Good job guys!

They seriously build doors and windows, I bought a sliding glass door they donated to the reuse store. It’s cedar and black aluminum. Super heavy and looks great. This way a charity got money. I saved money and got a beautiful door. Afterwords I asked for a key lock for the sliding door . the city of waterloo needs a front door with a lock on a coach house project.

Before you hire a window and door installer in Ontario

No provincial licence is required. Installation quality is governed by manufacturer specification and the Ontario Building Code rather than by a trade certificate.

General liability insurance and WSIB clearance

Standard checks. Window installation involves ladder work and heavy glass.

Manufacturer-trained installer status

Matters more than usual here, because most window warranties are voided by installation that departs from the manufacturer specification.

Building permit for new or enlarged openings

Replacing a window in an existing opening generally does not need one. Cutting a new opening, or enlarging one for a basement egress window, generally does.

Verify with: Your municipal building department confirms what your specific job requires.

ENERGY STAR certification for the product

Relevant if you intend to claim any efficiency rebate, which typically requires certified products and documentation.

Questions worth asking

  • Is this a retrofit or a full-frame installation? What would the other one cost?
  • How is the gap between the window and the rough opening insulated and air-sealed?
  • Is exterior capping included, and in what colour and material?
  • Is the warranty on the glass seal, the frame, and the labour - and are they different lengths?
  • Is the warranty transferable if I sell the house?
