Over the past year we have been on a mission to update/modernize our 130+ year old home, without compromising on the old house charm. Linton replaced our front door & retrofit a man door / window into a beautiful slider almost and year ago. Today they were back doing (almost) all our windows. Linton's whole team was FANTASTIC. Their sales & showroom team in Cambridge worked hard to insure my picky vision came to life. Today their installation team knocked it out of the park installing Northstar vinyl wrapped windows that kept the charm but knocked out the street noise and drafts. This is a business that genuinely cares and we felt that every step of the way ❤️

We recently had our two front windows and back sliding door installed by Linton Window & Door and were so pleased with the results that we decided to update our front door as well. Working with John Ioannou in Sales was a great experience—he truly brought our vision to life. Jamie Wolnowski, Installation Manager, was wonderful to deal with, and Dalton and Tyler, who completed the installation, were professional, courteous, and happy to answer any questions we had. We absolutely love the transformation of our home and have received many compliments from our neighbours. We look forward to doing business with Linton Window & Door again.

Had our windows replaced by Linton Window & Door and we’re really happy with how it turned out. They offered three product options at different price points, which made choosing easy. There was a bit of a wait since they’re busy, but we got lucky with a cancellation and our install date was moved up. The install crew (Jordan, Tyler, Matt, and Steve) were all great — friendly, professional, and respectful of our home. The windows look great and we’re very happy with them. We did have a small issue afterward, but Cam from sales was excellent to deal with. He walked us through pricing and product options from the start and followed up afterward to make sure we felt taken care of, which was really appreciated. Overall a great experience. I’d definitely recommend Linton to anyone looking for new windows.

I had a great experience with this window company from start to finish. The team was professional, knowledgeable, and easy to work with throughout the entire process. Installation day went smoothly — they arrived on time, worked efficiently, and paid close attention to detail. The new windows look fantastic and have already made a noticeable difference in both appearance and comfort. The crew cleaned up thoroughly before leaving, which I really appreciated. It’s clear they take pride in their work and customer satisfaction. I would absolutely recommend this company to anyone looking to replace their windows and would not hesitate to use them again in the future.

Linton staff called us and said there was an opening for the Friday before the long weekend. We were having two very large bay windows and a front door replaced. They came in with 6 installers, Shain, Jordan, John, Dalton, Matt and Tyler around 9 in the morning. They made quick work of removing the old windows and door and replacing them with new ones. They were very professional and courteous. They kept a clean workspace and did an excellent job. We could not be more pleased. They had at a previous date replaced the door at the garage with a sliding door which was done extremely well also. Thank-you to all the installers and the staff who did the measuring and building. Great work!

Before you hire a window and door installer in Ontario

No provincial licence is required. Installation quality is governed by manufacturer specification and the Ontario Building Code rather than by a trade certificate.

General liability insurance and WSIB clearance

Standard checks. Window installation involves ladder work and heavy glass.

Manufacturer-trained installer status

Matters more than usual here, because most window warranties are voided by installation that departs from the manufacturer specification.

Building permit for new or enlarged openings

Replacing a window in an existing opening generally does not need one. Cutting a new opening, or enlarging one for a basement egress window, generally does.

Verify with: Your municipal building department confirms what your specific job requires.

ENERGY STAR certification for the product

Relevant if you intend to claim any efficiency rebate, which typically requires certified products and documentation.

Questions worth asking

  • Is this a retrofit or a full-frame installation? What would the other one cost?
  • How is the gap between the window and the rough opening insulated and air-sealed?
  • Is exterior capping included, and in what colour and material?
  • Is the warranty on the glass seal, the frame, and the labour - and are they different lengths?
  • Is the warranty transferable if I sell the house?
