I can not recommend Home Creators Renovations more highly!! Andre and his crew made our bedroom and ensuite go so incredibly smoothly and beautifully! He was so very easy to communicate with and work with. Always answered right back when I had any questions. Both Andre and his team were amazingly hardworking and totally trustworthy! He will most definitely be our first callback for any future renos! His workmanship is utterly beautiful and totally meticulous! He isn’t happy until the homeowner is completely satisfied with the finished product and he takes great pride in his work! This is extremely hard to find anymore! So very thankful for Andre and his team!

Wonderful job done by Andre and his crew. It was a basement bathroom renovation, replacing a jacuzzi tub with a walk-in shower suitable for a very senior senior! Radiant heating system was added to the floor and a much higher toilet. The tile work in the shower and flooring was fabulously done. Andre accommodated the owner by facilitating the work done ahead of scheduled. Pleasant people to work with and the cleanup was done well. Andre added a repair to a pocket door that was necessary. We would definitely consider him for any new job in the future. We highly recommend this renovation company.

Working with Andre was a delight from the beginning. Contractors can be so flaky and unreliable, but from even my initial phone conversation with Andre, it was clear he was a professional who took his business seriously. I hired him to turn our basement into an in-law suite and to also do our kitchen counters upstairs. Not only did he and his team do an outstanding job, but his advice along the way was solid and he was completely committed to adding the finishing touches that satisfied us. We had a really strict deadline for our in-laws to move in because we're expecting our 3rd child and he completely exceeded our expectations on timing and reliability. Andre is trustworthy and an excellent handyman. I would hire him again for any project and recommend him to everyone I know, no questions asked.

We worked with Home Creators Renovations on a shower renovation. Every part of the process, from quote, through ongoing communication throughout the project to completion was exemplary. Andre brought more than just quality work and finishes to the renovation providing design and layout ideas that we had not considered and extremely happy with the end result. We highly recommend Andre and his team and will be our first call for any future projects.

What can I really say? The project Andre and his team accomplished was a difficult one. 26 ft load bearing wall torn down, 26 ft I beam installation with new footings in the basement. All just to make my wife and I dream kitchen come true. New floors, 12 ft island, custom cabinetry. There was so much to do and I was very concerned and worried pretty much about everything. But, Andre put all my worries aside. All trades lined up in orderly manor and done by true professionals. Andres communication with us was daily sometimes hourly. The job was done in excellent timing. I have 2 young kids so this was tough for my family not having a kitchen but Andre made sure to have my house clean after every work day so my kids didn’t have to feel like they were living in a complete construction zone. Overall , I rate this project 10/10 stars. My next project is my basement and I will 100% be calling Andre and his team.
Before you hire a renovation contractor in Ontario
No. Renovation contractors are not licensed in Ontario - but the sub-trades they hire may be, and the permits are the real accountability mechanism.
Written contract with a defined scope
Should include a fixed price or a clearly capped cost-plus arrangement, a payment schedule tied to milestones, a start and substantial completion date, a change order process, and what happens if either party walks away.
General liability insurance and WSIB clearance
Two million minimum. Confirm the policy covers the type and value of your project - some policies exclude structural work.
Building permit, pulled by the contractor
Insist the contractor pulls it in their name, not yours. A permit in your name makes you the constructor and shifts liability onto you. This is a genuinely important detail that many homeowners agree to without realising.
Verify with: Your municipal building department.
Licensed sub-trades for regulated work
Your renovator need not be licensed, but the electrician and plumber must be. Ask who they are and verify them independently.
Questions worth asking
- Will you pull the building permit in your company name?
- Can I see the written scope, and does it list specific products and models rather than allowances?
- What is the payment schedule, and is it tied to milestones rather than dates?
- How are change orders priced and approved - in writing, before the work happens?
- Who are your electrician and plumber, and can I verify their licences?
