Tried to save money by wiring some ceiling fans and GFI's myself. Ended up almost doing it right! These guys came in clutch for when I ended up needing some help, and helped me understand my systems better. Few months later, power went out weirdly in my home. Called them again and after a few minutes they got back to me after confirming it was actually the neighborhood I lived in. (Hydro One issue) Long and short of it. These guys care and are highly competent.... You're in good hands with Kode.

Cody and his crew upgraded our electrical panel to 200 amp and also installed a Generac standby generator. They were efficient, knowledgeable, personable and the quality of work excellent. We are super happy with our upgrades and would not hesitate to hire them again. Highly recommend!

Another electrical company left me in the limbo, and Cody and his team came to the rescue! He put many pot lights in my house, change my chandelier and smoke detectors. Him and his team was very friendly, always responded quickly, very responsible. They do an amazing quality of work and gives a reasonably price! Once the job was completed, he personay came to make sure it was fine. He definitely makes sure that the clients are more than satisfied with how his team did the work! Highly recommend them!! I will for sure contact him in the future for any other electrical jobs! You can definitely trust him and his team!! Thank you again for all the amazing and hard work, Cody and your team.

In a complete panic after being ghosted by others hired to do the job leaving our family with almost no power to our home in November, I came across a Facebook post of someone asking for electrician recommendations for an urgent small issue in his home. Cody had responded to this post offering his advise and his phone number to walk this person threw fixing it himself- selflessly putting thar persons need before making a quick buck! I sent Cody a message and he was here first thing the next morning, and his team here shortly after hard at work. Cody checking in frequently to ensure I was happy with the job/work/team, I was they were great men very friendly and great with my pets as well. I do not have enough wonderful things to say about this company- hire them and let them speak for themselves!

Cody’s Company was a recommendation on the Village of Bath Facebook Page and I am very glad that I followed the recommendation. Cody did some electrical work for me. He was professional, and made sure that I was pleased with the work they did. He checked back with me a couple of times to ensure everything was in working order. I did have an issue with one of the installs and Cody came back to fix it. I will certainly hire him again for more work.

Before you hire an electrician in Ontario

Yes, twice over. The person needs a 309A Certificate of Qualification; the business needs an ECRA/ESA Electrical Contractor Licence.

ECRA/ESA Electrical Contractor Licence

A seven-digit number that must appear on advertising, vehicles, quotes and invoices. If you cannot find it on the quote, ask - a licensed contractor is required to provide it.

Verify with: The Electrical Safety Authority publishes a contractor lookup at esasafe.com.

ESA notification (the permit) for the specific job

Most work beyond replacing a light fixture requires the contractor to file a notification with ESA and have the work inspected. You should receive a Certificate of Acceptance when it passes. Keep it. You will want it when you sell.

Verify with: ESA confirms whether a notification was filed for your address.

General liability insurance and WSIB clearance

Two million in liability is standard. Electrical fires are the reason this is not a box-ticking exercise.

Questions worth asking

  • What is your ECRA/ESA licence number? (Then look it up before you sign anything.)
  • Will you file the ESA notification, and is the fee included in this price?
  • Will I receive the Certificate of Acceptance when the work passes inspection?
  • Is my panel at capacity? If this job needs a service upgrade, I want to know now rather than halfway through.
  • Who is physically doing the work - a certified electrician or an apprentice under supervision?
