Great job! I had one of the best experiences with a service provider that I’ve ever had. The technician, Todd Brolley was exceptional! He fixed everything so efficiently and was extremely knowledgeable, explaining and offering options all throughout the process. He definitely made the extra effort and I would highly recommend their electrical services. (Breaker replacement, light fixture and smoke detector installation)

The Service Technician was very polite and knowledgeable. They made sure that my home was well prepared prior to bringing in the new equipment. He was very informative and went through everything prior to leaving.

I had a great experience with Reliance Plumbing Services. The technician, Mohsen, was extremely reliable, professional, and knowledgeable. He fixed several issues in my house efficiently and made sure everything was working perfectly before leaving. He took the time to explain the problems and solutions clearly, which I really appreciated. It’s not easy to find someone trustworthy, but Mohsen definitely is. I highly recommend Reliance and especially Mohsen for any plumbing needs!

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Reliance home comfort team for making what seemed impossible possible. First, I would like to thank Tasnim, a customer service representative, for clearly and thoroughly explaining everything I needed to know. I would also like to extend my gratitude to Salma and her team for their prompt response and dedication, especially given the extremely poor weather conditions. Additionally, I would like to thank Bob and his assistant for professionally installing the new furnace, carefully checking all systems, and clearly explaining what we should monitor moving forward. I would also like to thank the team who installed our water filter. Your professionalism and hard work are truly appreciated. Thank you for ensuring our home remained warm during the snowstorm, which was especially important for our family with three young children. I highly recommend Reliance and will continue as a Reliance Comfort Home member.

Before you hire an HVAC contractor in Ontario

Yes for the parts that matter. Gas work requires TSSA certification, and refrigerant work requires a 313A or 313D certificate plus environmental handling certification.

TSSA Gas Technician certificate (G1, G2 or G3)

Legally required for anyone connecting, servicing or venting gas-fired equipment. G2 covers most residential work; G3 is an entry level that must work under supervision.

Verify with: The Technical Standards and Safety Authority regulates fuel safety in Ontario.

Certificate of Qualification, 313A or 313D

313A is the full Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic; 313D is the residential air conditioning equivalent. Both are compulsory trades.

Verify with: Skilled Trades Ontario maintains the public register.

ODP / refrigerant handling certification

Required to legally purchase and handle refrigerant. Relevant to any AC or heat pump work.

Manufacturer certification for the equipment being installed

Not a legal requirement, but many manufacturer warranties are only valid when installed by a certified dealer. Ask before assuming you have a ten-year warranty.

Questions worth asking

  • Will you perform a heat loss and heat gain calculation, and can I see it?
  • Who on the crew holds the TSSA gas certificate, and at what level?
  • Is the equipment warranty conditional on registration or on installer certification?
  • What exactly is covered by your labour warranty, and for how long?
  • Does this quote include removal and disposal of the old equipment?
