A great local company with professional staff. They provided a quick response and follow up quote very shortly after. Updates were constantly provided, and the work was completed so zero issues. We have been using Simon’s Lawn Care on and off over the years and enjoy the spring-fall seasons significantly more when the team is taking care of things. Tyler’s team is detail oriented, respectful of the property, punctual and requests feedback on the service. The team uses high quality lawn care equipment for the best results and takes pride in their work. I would highly recommend Tyler and his team.

Great service. Needed help getting a property ready to list for sale. Called Simons Lawn Care, top-notch service, did an amazing job, had great communication, super happy. Even the neighbour of the property commented how great of a job they did. Highly recommend. You won't be disappointed. Definitely use Simon Lawn Care again without hesitation.

So glad I found these guys! When my dad fell ill, they were able to cut my parents’ lawn on short notice. Amazing price and great quality too. Will be using them for the property upkeep and maintenance going forward - nice guys too!

Before you hire a landscaper in Ontario

No general licence, but specific activities are regulated: tree work near hydro lines, pesticide application, and retaining walls above a certain height.

General liability insurance and WSIB clearance

Particularly important for tree work and any job using excavators or skid steers near a structure.

ISA Certified Arborist, for tree work

A recognised certification indicating training in tree health and safe removal. Worth insisting on for any mature tree near a building.

Verify with: The International Society of Arboriculture maintains a public certification directory.

Ontario pesticide applicator licence

Required for anyone applying pesticides commercially. Ontario also restricts cosmetic pesticide use, so be sceptical of anyone offering broad chemical lawn treatment.

Permit and engineering for retaining walls

Most Ontario municipalities require a permit for retaining walls above roughly one metre, and engineered drawings above that. A failed retaining wall is expensive and can involve your neighbour.
