We had a patio door installed. The overall service was very good. The sales person did a good job and the support team was good. The install team was excellent. The quality of the install was top shelf and they were clean and efficient. They provided great info on how to clean, operate and maintain the patio door. I'd use this company again for future work.

I had the most amazing experience with The Window & Door Centre. I had a stress fracture in my window in my new build (two years old). I was told by various people that it would still be under warranty and I followed up with the window maker. The window maker told me - no it wasn’t under warranty which baffled me but what could I do about it. My builder also followed up and was met with the same response. I contacted Debbie at The Window and Door Centre to get a quote to replace and install the whole window. As I shared my story she immediately told me that it should be under warranty and she would look into it for me. In one day Debbie was able to achieve what both me and my builder couldn’t - she was able to get the company to admit that the window was indeed under warranty. Debbie at The Window and Door Centre was phenomenal not only did she save me a significant amount of money but her prompt emails and thoughtful updates were appreciated. The install was hassle free and professional. hope I never have to replace a window again but if I do - I’m using The Window and Door Centre.

I have used the Window and Door Centre for 3 installations now and I have always been very satisfied with the quality of their products and service. My most recent order had an extremely tight and specific timeline that needed to be met and Debbie and Joe really worked hard to make sure that my windows were ready to be installed. Thank you both your efforts. The windows were installed at the perfect time in the project.

Everything was great from the time I called, to the sales appointment to the installation. I had windows done at two of my houses and Joe was great! I knew what I wanted in advance and he didn't try to up-sell, but wanted to make sure that I ended up with the windows I wanted. Everyone returned my calls with very little turnaround time, and the installers showed up ON TIME and on the day they said they would. They did a fantastic job cleaning up once work was done and I have high quality windows that I thoroughly enjoy. I would absolutely recommend them for future jobs!

My first encounter at Window and Door Centre was with Joe. Joe has a frank sincerity and sense of humour that engages. His guidance on door selection was superb AND he was the consummate salesman because I left with an appointment to have him measure space at my home. He is assertive without being pushy, which is perfect! Next I met Sean, another delightful guy who has the wonderful qualities of personable professionalism. When installation day came, two more amazing men showed up and my doors look exceptional!!! Brett and Chris were a delight and better than this, they did a great job!!!! I thought I could code my new front door for the padded entry, reading the instructions on my own but this was not to be. Joe returned and attempted to code and ultimately, Sean returned and made all things purrrfect. Lastly, I must mention the friendly and also personable Mary at the office. Each experience was easy and professional and has left a wonderful and lasting impression. Do get your doors and service from this place~you will be glad you did.
Before you hire a window and door installer in Ontario
No provincial licence is required. Installation quality is governed by manufacturer specification and the Ontario Building Code rather than by a trade certificate.
General liability insurance and WSIB clearance
Standard checks. Window installation involves ladder work and heavy glass.
Manufacturer-trained installer status
Matters more than usual here, because most window warranties are voided by installation that departs from the manufacturer specification.
Building permit for new or enlarged openings
Replacing a window in an existing opening generally does not need one. Cutting a new opening, or enlarging one for a basement egress window, generally does.
Verify with: Your municipal building department confirms what your specific job requires.
ENERGY STAR certification for the product
Relevant if you intend to claim any efficiency rebate, which typically requires certified products and documentation.
Questions worth asking
- Is this a retrofit or a full-frame installation? What would the other one cost?
- How is the gap between the window and the rough opening insulated and air-sealed?
- Is exterior capping included, and in what colour and material?
- Is the warranty on the glass seal, the frame, and the labour - and are they different lengths?
- Is the warranty transferable if I sell the house?
