⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 — Highly Recommend I had an amazing experience with this electrical company. They showed up on time, were friendly, professional, and really knew what they were doing. The work was done quickly and safely, and they walked me through everything so I knew what was going on. No surprises, no nonsense — just quality workmanship. The pricing was fair, the cleanup was spotless, and the whole job felt stress-free from start to finish. It’s rare to find tradespeople who take this much pride in their work. I’ll definitely be calling them again for future projects and recommending them to friends and family.

Very friendly and knowledgable. Was able to diagnose the problem quickly and found the issue immediately. I would definitely call Yates electric again for any issues. He was also very respectful and considerate about keeping our home clean.

We had Yates remove the knob and tube wiring from our rental property in St Thomas, they did a great job with very few repairs necessary in the drywall. The price was reasonable and the job was done in a timely manner. We were so impressed that we had them come and do some wiring in our home in Stratford.

Highly recommend Yates Electrical Services if you’re in the area. They came to quote us on an EV charger installation and were spot on with the estimate. Very professional service overall with great work. The install job looked even better than I had imagined. Very happy with the work, would absolutely call them again for future electrical work around the house.
Before you hire an electrician in Ontario
Yes, twice over. The person needs a 309A Certificate of Qualification; the business needs an ECRA/ESA Electrical Contractor Licence.
ECRA/ESA Electrical Contractor Licence
A seven-digit number that must appear on advertising, vehicles, quotes and invoices. If you cannot find it on the quote, ask - a licensed contractor is required to provide it.
Verify with: The Electrical Safety Authority publishes a contractor lookup at esasafe.com.
Check Yates Electrical Services on the official registerCertificate of Qualification, 309A Electrician
Held by the individual. A licensed contractor employs certified electricians and apprentices; the apprentices work under supervision.
Verify with: Skilled Trades Ontario maintains the public register.
Check Yates Electrical Services on the official registerESA notification (the permit) for the specific job
Most work beyond replacing a light fixture requires the contractor to file a notification with ESA and have the work inspected. You should receive a Certificate of Acceptance when it passes. Keep it. You will want it when you sell.
Verify with: ESA confirms whether a notification was filed for your address.
Check Yates Electrical Services on the official registerGeneral liability insurance and WSIB clearance
Two million in liability is standard. Electrical fires are the reason this is not a box-ticking exercise.
Questions worth asking
- What is your ECRA/ESA licence number? (Then look it up before you sign anything.)
- Will you file the ESA notification, and is the fee included in this price?
- Will I receive the Certificate of Acceptance when the work passes inspection?
- Is my panel at capacity? If this job needs a service upgrade, I want to know now rather than halfway through.
- Who is physically doing the work - a certified electrician or an apprentice under supervision?
