Not the fanciest of places, but their website showed availability for a high quality porcelain tile that was already discontinued elsewhere, with the added benefit of a discounted price. There was a two week wait on account of it being a special order, but completely worth it. (There's also a store-full of materials available on site, without a wait.) Abhi was great to deal with, as was his young assistant - really helpful, accommodating and lovely folks.

I came to End of the Roll in Guelph at a really meaningful moment, wanting my home to feel like a sanctuary and truly reflect who I am. The previous flooring didn’t feel aligned, and I knew the energy of the space needed to change. Abi immediately stood out. His smile, warmth, and genuinely positive presence made the process feel safe and supportive rather than transactional. I never felt rushed or pressured — only guided with care. Abi also provided a very fair and honest price, with exceptional value for the quality delivered. The flooring completely transformed my home. It now feels calm, intentional, and unmistakably me. I’m deeply grateful for the integrity, kindness, and pride Abi brings to his work, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him.

The price was right and the service and installation was excellent. I will definitely buy from them again. The owner Abi came by the house to take measurements and give me a free quote. The end price was exactly what he quoted. The contractor was so thoughtful about our space while doing great work.

I went shopping for a runner for my stairs and carpet for my upstairs landing. I was heading to a different store, got stuck in traffic and noticed the End of the Roll store, so i pulled in their parking lot instead. I am so glad i did! The customer service was very professional and courteous, the prices were great and the installation was fantastic! I would highly recommend End of the Roll for all your carpet and flooring needs.

Before you hire a flooring installer in Ontario

No provincial licence required. Manufacturer installation requirements are the real standard, because they govern your warranty.

General liability insurance and WSIB clearance

Standard checks.

Manufacturer installation compliance

Most flooring warranties specify subfloor flatness, moisture content and acclimation. Departing from them voids coverage, and the manufacturer will ask for evidence if you claim.

Moisture testing for concrete subfloors

Basements and slab-on-grade need a moisture test before wood or glue-down vinyl goes on. Skipping it is the most common cause of catastrophic basement floor failure.

Asbestos assessment for pre-1990 flooring

Old vinyl tile and its adhesive can contain asbestos. It must not be sanded or dry-scraped without assessment.

Questions worth asking

  • Is subfloor preparation included, and what happens if the floor turns out to be uneven?
  • Is removal and disposal of the existing flooring in this price?
  • How long will the material acclimate on site before installation?
  • For basements or concrete: will you moisture-test the slab first?
  • Are transitions, baseboard, quarter round and stair nosing included?
