I’m not usually someone who likes to post reviews, especially about contractors! But when Roofing Monkey asked, I couldn’t say no. I had ice-dam damage last winter, and when Camillo first came, he didn’t try to sell me anything. Instead, he gathered information, took pictures, and went back to his office to discuss with his team the best way to prevent the same issue from happening again. He showed me the options and guided me through the process over several visits. I was extremely pleased with his team’s work—replacing the gutters, installing leaf guards, fascia, soffits, and even a solar fan. They also removed my chimney with care and made the drainage system simple and more effective. That’s how they build trust, and we’ve already booked them again for next year to replace our shingles.

Late this summer I hired roofing monkeys to install fascia all around my house and soffits around the porch. The process and work was amazing and I would hire them again. Camilo came out super quick to provide a quote and the work was completed faster than anticipated in the busy part of the summer. They finished the whole thing in only a couple of days. I thought they would struggle because of the high angle of the house and because it was an old house using old materials built in the early 1900s. However, they completed everything quickly and didn't complain about any of the irregularities of the house. This has not been my experience with other contractors working and it was a pleasant surprise to have the professionallism of roofing monkeys. Lastly, the price they provided was fair, even beating out some of the competitors, and the quality of work was great. I am happy I went with them and couldn't recommend them enough.

I recently worked with Roofing Monkeys, and I truly appreciated their complete transparency throughout the entire process. From the initial inspection to the final walk through, they took the time to explain every step clearly, answer all my questions, and make sure I understood exactly what was being done. That level of honesty and communication made the experience smooth and stress-free. Thank you to the entire Roofing Monkeys team for your hard work, professionalism, and attention to detail. The quality of their craftsmanship speaks for itself, and the project was completed on time and at a fair price. I would confidently recommend them to anyone looking for reliable, high-quality roofing work backed by integrity and excellent customer service. p.s. Ask for Christian, he is very knowledgeable and will show you a demo of the entire process as well.

Very happy after my recent experience with Roofing Monkeys. We had a leak, and Carlos was able to diagnose the problem, while also discovering some other potential issues that we weren't aware of. He gave us options on how to proceed which were very reasonable and he was not pushy at all while we made our decision. I spoke to a few other roofing contractors, and found they were either dishonest or didn't have the proper insurance (keep in mind that roofers need hot work/open flame insurance to do flat roof work, and not all have it!). By comparison, another popular and highly rated roofer in Toronto quoted me $4,000 for the repair claiming it to be a much larger job than it was, while Carlos quoted ~$600. Carlos and the team also kept lines of communication open and were extremely responsive which I really appreciated. Highly recommend them for their quality of work, fair pricing, and reliability.

Roofing Monkeys did a great job on our house. We had an aging and degrading shingle roof. Loosing shingles on every windy or stormy day. Christian stopped by to review the scope of work and was very informative of the situation i had up top. He discussed the various options available and the step they go through, replacing the old roof and the application of the new roofing materials. We went with a full strip and replace, to avoid any irregular overlay issues and couldn't be happier with the end look They redid all the flashing and drip endging and put down a membrane over the entire roof, before the 20yr shingles were fastened. They cleaned up all around the property and we're done in less than 2 days! Really happy with the end product and the house looks great! Highly recommend this company and crew!

Before you hire a roofer in Ontario

No. Roofing is not a compulsory trade in Ontario, so there is no licence to verify - which makes insurance and WSIB coverage the checks that matter.

WSIB clearance certificate

The most important document in this trade. Ask for a current certificate and confirm it names the company doing your work, not a subcontractor you have never met. It should be dated within the last 90 days.

Verify with: WSIB clearance certificates can be validated online by the account number.

General liability insurance

Two million dollars minimum for residential roofing. Request the certificate of insurance directly from the broker rather than a photocopy, and confirm the policy is current.

Manufacturer shingle certification

Optional but meaningful. Manufacturers certify installers, and certification is what unlocks the extended system warranty. Without it you have a material warranty only, which covers far less than most homeowners assume.

Municipal business licence

Some Ontario municipalities require one. Not universal, but easy to ask about.

Questions worth asking

  • Can I see a current WSIB clearance certificate and your liability certificate of insurance?
  • Is this a full tear-off, or shingling over the existing layer? (Overlays are cheaper and shorten roof life.)
  • How much ice and water shield is included, and how far up from the eave?
  • Are you certified by the shingle manufacturer, and does this quote include the system warranty or only the material warranty?
  • What happens if you find rotten decking? What is the per-sheet price, and will you show me before replacing it?
