Very fair pricing and a knowledgeable salesman (Andrew) who zeroed in quickly on what I wanted and did not apply pressure to upsell. I appreciated that! The windows look great and the installers (Wayne, Vince, Johnathan, Leland, and Austin) were all professional, friendly and courteous. They did a great job on the installation and the clean-up, and took pride in their workmanship.

From estimate to custom manufacture of two patio slider doors the process was easy. Pricing didn't change, manufacture date and install date was earlier than estimated. AJ in sales was easy to reach, worked around our schedule. He even stopped by during the installation to make sure everything was going okay. Trevor and Carson were the installers. They were here early and got right to work. Friendly and courteous. Kept construction mess to a minimum. A great experience. Already thinking about replacement windows and other doors.

I just had 11 windows replaced on a home from 1965 (which still had the original windows) and wow, what a smooth operation. Having previously dealt with a careless contractor, I was daunted by the idea of replacing 11 windows however, the process was smooth, clean and completely finished in less than 72 hrs! The team (Vince, Wayne, Mike, LeLand & Austin) were absolutely fantastic. They were clean, cordial and took time to entertain my pug! If you're considering new doors or windows on your own home, I 100% suggest Advanced Home Services (Windows & Doors) Efficient, clean, friendly and fast!

We had 6 new windows installed that completely transformed the front of our house! Our home had its original 1950s wooden windows that were in rough shape - the white paint was all peeling and they were not energy efficient! We had a major curb appeal upgrade by switching to black vinyl windows while still maintaining charm with colonial grid trim. We had Andrew as our salesperson and they were fantastic! They were very nice and informative and we just had a great meeting overall at the showroom which really secured the sale! He even popped in on install day to see how things were going and brought us coffees! As for the install itself - Wayne, Vince, Austen, and Carter made a great team! They were very courteous, worked quickly and efficiently, clean, and just know what they are doing! They kept our house clean by laying down tarps on our floors, took away all old materials, and cleaned up any debris inside and outside. Austen also went out of his way to take down some old blinds and brackets that I didn’t want anymore and filled the screw holes for me! That was so nice and saved me from a later DIY. Overall, I’m just so impressed with the team from start to finish and I can see why their signs are always in our neighbourhood. We will need a few more windows done and a patio door in the future so we will definitely be calling Advanced back. Thanks you so much!

Best experience with Advance Home Services for our windows and patio door. Glen was our salesman, and he was so knowledgeable about the windows they provide, how they’re installed, etc. He came to our home everyday (3 days) during the installation process to check in on us and his coworkers, which I thought was really nice. What we really appreciated the most was helping us get the government loan for our windows, for one telling us about it when we had no idea of it, and Phyllis at the front desk being very receptive to our emails for any questions we had. It was a very smooth process. John, Mike, and Rachel came to do the actual installation, and they did a wonderful job. We are extremely satisfied with how the windows/patio door look and work - I really appreciated how clean they were through the whole process - I didn’t have to clean up after them at all. Very respectful and made sure I knew how to operate the windows before they left. We just had our post evaluation audit done for the loan, and it’s clear that they did an amazing job. We don’t even want to get blinds because they look so good!!! Thank you! Highly recommend!

Before you hire a window and door installer in Ontario

No provincial licence is required. Installation quality is governed by manufacturer specification and the Ontario Building Code rather than by a trade certificate.

General liability insurance and WSIB clearance

Standard checks. Window installation involves ladder work and heavy glass.

Manufacturer-trained installer status

Matters more than usual here, because most window warranties are voided by installation that departs from the manufacturer specification.

Building permit for new or enlarged openings

Replacing a window in an existing opening generally does not need one. Cutting a new opening, or enlarging one for a basement egress window, generally does.

Verify with: Your municipal building department confirms what your specific job requires.

ENERGY STAR certification for the product

Relevant if you intend to claim any efficiency rebate, which typically requires certified products and documentation.

Questions worth asking

  • Is this a retrofit or a full-frame installation? What would the other one cost?
  • How is the gap between the window and the rough opening insulated and air-sealed?
  • Is exterior capping included, and in what colour and material?
  • Is the warranty on the glass seal, the frame, and the labour - and are they different lengths?
  • Is the warranty transferable if I sell the house?
