From the initial meeting in our home, final measurements and installation of seven widows and a door what a great experience. Can’t say enough about the effort to ensure we were educated on the products and were not pressured to purchase. When the windows were scheduled to be installed the crew ( Tom and Bailey ) were awesome. Friendly, and respectful of our home, keeping the mess to a minimum. Took the time to explain the removal and preparation process when he noticed my confused look. Very appreciated. Do not hesitate to get a quote and then purchase from Element you get quality products and excellent professional service. Thanks to the whole team at Element Windows and Doors.

Had a great experience with Element from start to finish! Right from the quote all the way to final installation. If you need any windows or doors done I highly recommend Element Windows and Doors!

We had Element put in some basement windows a few years back and had a great experience. So when we needed a new garage side door we contacted the them again. We were not disappointing! Nicole from sales came to the house for the initial measurement and consultation. She was lovely and personable and we had great chats. Shortly thereafter the owner himself Shaun Element came by to do a final double-check measurement. He made a few suggestions and modifications which we agreed to and appreciated. Next, we dealt with the general manager, Chris, who set up a time for the install and answered a few questions that we had. Jeff, the installer, came today for the final install and everything went great (besides the cold and the wonky garage opening). He tackled it well and was super pleasant while doing it. A great experience from the entire team start to finish. 5 stars. Thanks again.

Outstanding service from start to finish. Jeff and Chris were terrific when they came to do the install of our dining room window, battling snow, rain and freezing rain. Whole process went better than expected and our new window looks great. We’re so happy that we’ll be contacting them for a new front window in the spring.

Before you hire a window and door installer in Ontario

No provincial licence is required. Installation quality is governed by manufacturer specification and the Ontario Building Code rather than by a trade certificate.

General liability insurance and WSIB clearance

Standard checks. Window installation involves ladder work and heavy glass.

Manufacturer-trained installer status

Matters more than usual here, because most window warranties are voided by installation that departs from the manufacturer specification.

Building permit for new or enlarged openings

Replacing a window in an existing opening generally does not need one. Cutting a new opening, or enlarging one for a basement egress window, generally does.

Verify with: Your municipal building department confirms what your specific job requires.

ENERGY STAR certification for the product

Relevant if you intend to claim any efficiency rebate, which typically requires certified products and documentation.

Questions worth asking

  • Is this a retrofit or a full-frame installation? What would the other one cost?
  • How is the gap between the window and the rough opening insulated and air-sealed?
  • Is exterior capping included, and in what colour and material?
  • Is the warranty on the glass seal, the frame, and the labour - and are they different lengths?
  • Is the warranty transferable if I sell the house?
