Arctic Hot Tubs back at it! One of the arms of our hot tub cover ripped right off the tub. We were told they had a "stock piece" and they could use it to fix the one arm. Now the other arm has broken off and they are saying it's our fault for not replacing both last time. How they've built a tub where the metal arms rip right off and then charge the client twice is beyond me. Not even a discussion about how this might be covered by the clearly shoddy manufacturing. Also - do not trust when they tell you their expensive filters that you throw away last for 6 months. They last about 2 months maximum before the water starts getting gross. Budget $150 for those every 2 months. Other companies have reusable filters that you can just hose down instead.

I previously owned an Arctic Spa and when we moved, I missed it terribly. I have owned my new Arctic Spa since last June and have loved it even more. It is more than tub - it is truly a hydro-therapy tub for both me and my husband. Alain was amazing in helping us buy the right tub and making the purchase easy (no stress or worry). He guided us to the one that was truly right for our needs (and not the one I originally thought of buying which would have been a regret). After over a year of owning our new tub, I can honestly say I have NO buyers remorse and have recommended it to many of my friends. The new salt system is incredibly easy to maintain and I love it even more than my previous tub. Bottom line - do not try to save some money on cheaper tubs as they will only cost you more in the long run. You get what you pay for and Arctic Hot Tubs are a superior product which cost very little to run, even in the harshest of winter days. Thank you Arctic Spa - I wish I didn't wait as long as I did to buy my new tub. Now I can enjoy the relaxation and hydro-therapy any time I want - year-round!

We researched a number of vendors and options when we wanted to refresh our backyard (we take a lot of time to land on a major decision - years in this case). We looked at putting a pool in vs a hot tub - and the biggest deciding factor was the length of season/cost vs use. Another factor was ensuring that it was easy to access and secure. Less chemicals, ease of use, quality of construction, efficiency and Made In Canada were important factors. We narrowed our search to Arctic Spa and another vendor - and then I started emailing both - with Alain at Arctic Spa Vaughan standing out (a year into the pandemic - and we have an at-risk situation in our house). Not only was Alain accommodating and informative (vs. salesy), he set a time where we would be the only people in the store (plus himself) so we could see things in-person. I know it was inconvenient for him, but he really wanted to address our concerns and make sure we were comfortable. This has been a consistent theme from pre-sales through to now... everyone that we have had to deal with has been concerned with our well-being and enjoyment of our purchase. We decided to purchase a Tundra and Covana (power top), and Alain had excellent points as to placement so that we would use it the most - within 8 steps of the house. We have been using it every day as a result. My wife was (at first) against the Covana until we saw it work in-person.... and envisioned fall/winter usage and how easy it was to access, the key lock for safety., efficiency with the insulation value of the top and privacy from the screens we purchased (which turns it into a "room" at any time of day or night). The screens also block the wind and sun effectively to make the tub more enjoyable. The best part of the experience wasn't the quality of the equipment (even though we have been VERY happy with the gear) - it was the people. I wanted a perfect experience but am realistic that "stuff happens." The measure of a great company (and great people) is how things are handled when things don't happen perfectly. Matt Buchanan, Amanda Green & the Service Team, Rysen & the Delivery Team, Alain Henderson (Sales) have been proactive, polite and quick to address any concerns or questions (no matter how silly, or repetitive they may be). They always make sure my request is in the right hands, and both follow up with me proactively to let me know what is going on.... I NEVER had to chase anyone. There was a mix-up for delivery - no problem - I had Alain and Matt talking with me right away to resolve it. One of the screens showed up damaged - no problem - Delivery team were phoning Service before I was even aware of the issue and it was addressed the next day. Alain followed up with me regularly on his own accord as I learned (along with using the app) how to make sure the water stays crystal clear. Alain really does care and reduced my stress through the process. A few weeks in, we used the tub at night and one cupholder light stopped working - no problem - Service sent someone out within 48hrs. The Tech was AWESOME - not only was the light addressed as a part of our warranty, but the tub was checked out end-to-end and a couple of items were addressed proactively with a clear explanation as to how/why and with the end-goal of making things easier for me go-forward. Quote "Hey, I'm here anyways - I want to make sure everything is right so you don't have any issues." I didn't have to ask - it was proactively done. My biggest fear going into this was learning about ongoing maintenance (not a lot once you find your groove) - I feel I can call any of the people at Arctic Spa to get a clear, straight answer in order to help me. (Did I mention how awesome Alain, Service, Delivery and everyone is?). Yes, it was a big purchase decision and we have been very happy that we went with Arctic Spa and the team in Vaughan. Yes, there are cheaper options out there - but in this case you get what you pay for. Highly recommended.

Second time Arctic spa hot tub We just received our second hot tub from Arctic Spas. We had our first one for 16 years. Both tubs have a salt water system which I can highly recommend. It's easy to maintain, feels good on the skin and makes the water look clean. The quality of the spa is very high end. We enjoy using the tub year round. The service we received from Nathan @ the Vaughan store is outstanding. I would highly recommend getting a hot tub from Arctic Spa.

We got our Arctic Spa hot tub a couple of weeks ago and love it. Rick and Nathan have both been amazing through the purchase process, to set up, to me asking questions post set up. The delivery team was also great, helping to fill the tub and set everything up. The Spaboy feature really is a game changer and has made it so easy to maintain. Great service and great product.

Before you hire a hot tub installer in Ontario

Hot tub sales and placement are unregulated, but the electrical connection is not. It requires a licensed electrical contractor and an ESA inspection.

Licensed electrical contractor with an ECRA/ESA number

A hot tub needs a dedicated GFCI-protected 240V circuit and, in most cases, a disconnect within sight of the tub. This is not work for a handyman.

Verify with: The Electrical Safety Authority, esasafe.com.

ESA notification and Certificate of Acceptance

Filed by the electrical contractor and inspected. Keep the certificate - insurers and buyers ask for it.

Adequate base or engineered deck support

A filled hot tub with occupants is a serious point load. Placing one on an ordinary residential deck without verifying capacity is a real structural risk, and decks have failed under them.

General liability insurance for delivery and placement

Crane placement over a house is a moment where insurance stops being theoretical.

Questions worth asking

  • What is the filled weight, and is my intended base or deck rated for it?
  • Which licensed electrical contractor will do the connection, and is the ESA notification included?
  • Will I get the Certificate of Acceptance when it passes inspection?
  • Can the tub physically reach the location, or is a crane required - and is that in the price?
  • What is the insulation construction, and what is the realistic monthly running cost in winter?
