Everlast Windows and Doors did an outstanding job installing 7 basement windows and 1 front door in our home. The level of detail and care during the installation was exceptional, everything was done thoughtfully, cleanly, and to a very high standard. The entire team was a pleasure to work with, and the staff were incredibly friendly and professional throughout the process. A special shoutout to Scott and Rosanna, who were especially accommodating and easy to deal with from start to finish. We’re extremely happy with the results and the overall experience. We’ll absolutely be using Everlast for all of our windows and doors moving forward and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality workmanship and great service.

What a fabulous experience dealing with this company. The crew, made of of Andy, Cody, Evan, Ron and big Evan, were amazing. They were neat and tidy and were quick and efficient! Highly recommend Everlast for and window or door project Before and after pictures

We recently had Everlast replace our two garden doors with new sliders and we are extremely happy with the end result. The entire Everlast team were fabulous from salesman Scott to the installation team lead by Andy. Our old doors were out and new ones in quickly and professionally and the guys left our place spotless. We shopped around for quotes and the cost and warranty from Everlast compared very favourably to all of them. Thank you Everlast for providing a very satisfactory experience.

Stacey Holditch

Thank you Everlasting Windows! Francesco was able to come out very quickly to assess some window damage and get us a quote. The team showed up three weeks later as promised and installed the new window. They were quick, friendly and professional! Highly recommend!

I had an excellent experience with Everlast for my front entry door and garage entrance door replacement! The salesperson, Scott showed up at my house to go over the available door types and designs. Very thorough with his explanation and recommendations. He also later met me at the showroom to see the different colours and styles in person. The pricing was very competitive with other quotes I received from other vendors. The installation team (Jeff and David) was professional, friendly, kept everything tidy, and did a great job. The new doors look fantastic!. Highly recommend Everlast for their top-notch service and experience from beginning to end.

Before you hire a general contractor in Ontario

No provincial licence exists for general contracting on existing homes. New home construction is different - those builders must be HCRA licensed.

Written contract with defined scope and payment schedule

The core protection. Should specify the fee structure explicitly - fixed price, cost plus a percentage, or cost plus a fixed fee - and what the fee is calculated on.

General liability insurance, and confirmation it covers your project type

Two million minimum. Ask specifically whether structural work is excluded, because some policies exclude it.

WSIB clearance for the GC and every subcontractor

The GC should be collecting clearance certificates from their subs. Ask whether they do; a good one will say yes without hesitating.

Permits pulled in the contractor's name

If the permit is in your name you become the constructor under Ontario's occupational health and safety framework, with the obligations that carries. Do not agree to this casually.

Verify with: Your municipal building department.

Questions worth asking

  • Is this fixed price, cost plus percentage, or cost plus fixed fee - and what is the fee calculated on?
  • Will you pull the permits in your company name?
  • Which trades are your own crews and which are subcontracted?
  • Do you collect WSIB clearance certificates from your subcontractors?
  • How many active projects will you be running while mine is open, and who is my day-to-day contact?
