Alberto provided very good service developing his estimate. He was punctual, pleasant and helpful, arriving on time. He was presentable, professional, friendly and courteous. He answered all questions. I would have no hesitations to recommend Alberto to family and friends.

The plumber Ryan arrived on time and was courteous and knowledgeable. I had inconsistent hot water supply to various taps, and he accessed cold and hot water lines at hot water tank, and there was a small pile of crud on the filter of the hot water line. He cleaned the filter quickly and replaced it back again, and problem solved. An easy fix, and there was no charge, which was a very nice courtesy.

I dealt with John The Plumber yesterday for the first time, but it won't be the last. We had a laundry sink overflow and a simple clearing of the trap didn't help. The problem was a bit above my pay grade. I went to the John The Plumber website and I got good feeling after reading their info and customer testimonials. I used their online booking app, picked a preferred time and a few seconds later I had a confirmation email with an estimated time window for arrival. I was kind of shocked that they could have someone out to our place that very morning! Their plumber, Ashton, called well within the window and said he would be there within 40 minutes. A half hour later Ashton showed up. I explained the problem, he diagnosed the issue and then told me exactly how he would fix it and a price for that job. I gave him the go ahead and he did exactly what he said he would do. In the end, it was a bit less than quoted because of the first time customer discount. Ashton was very friendly, polite and respectful of our property. The drain clearing came with a 30 day warranty so all was good from my perspective. We are very satisfied customers. I wouldn't hesitate to refer John The Plumber for your plumbing needs.

I phoned on Oct. 9 and was thrilled to get an appointment for today (Oct. 10). Steve arrived before 8.30 and did truly excellent work. By 10.30 our leaking hot water faucet (40 years old, leak discovered 4 days ago) was gone, after Steve was assisted by two of his colleagues. Throughout his time here, Steve was cordial and clear about what he intended to do. For any future plumbing problem, I will call John the Plumber and ask for Steve. Please tell Steve how very pleased we were with everything he did.

Alberto was amazing! Very friendly and polite. I called regarding an exterior leaky faucet. He arrived early the next morning. He was knowledgeable and explained the issue and repair required as well as price- which was reasonable. The whole faucet needed to be replaced which also required accessing a tight space inside the basement ceiling. He fixed it quickly and no more leak! Highly recommend Alberto and John The Plumber!
Before you hire a plumber in Ontario
Yes. Plumber (306A) is a compulsory trade in Ontario - working without certification is illegal, not just inadvisable.
Certificate of Qualification, 306A Plumber
The individual doing the work must hold this, or be a registered apprentice working under someone who does. Ask for the certificate number and the name it is issued to. It belongs to a person, not a company.
Verify with: Skilled Trades Ontario maintains the public register of certified tradespeople.

Two million dollars is the common floor for residential work. Water damage escalates fast, and a burst supply line during a renovation can exceed a small policy in an afternoon.
WSIB clearance
If a worker is injured on your property and the contractor has no coverage, you can be drawn into the claim. A clearance certificate is free for the contractor to pull and takes minutes.
Verify with: WSIB issues clearance certificates directly to the contractor on request.

G1, G2 or G3 depending on scope. Required for anything connecting to a natural gas or propane line.
Verify with: The Technical Standards and Safety Authority regulates fuel safety in Ontario.

- Is the person doing the work certified in 306A, or an apprentice being supervised? Both are fine. You just want to know.
- Is this quote flat rate or time and materials? If hourly, what is the estimated range and what happens if it runs over?
- Does the job touch a gas line, and if so who holds the TSSA certificate?
- Does this need a municipal plumbing permit, and are you pulling it?
- What is the warranty on labour, separately from the manufacturer warranty on parts?
