I can’t recommend John The Plumber enough! This winter, we lost hot water because the extreme cold froze our water heater pipes. We went nearly six days without hot water because many companies were either fully booked or couldn’t show up on time as scheduled, which was really frustrating. John’s team was different—they responded promptly, diagnosed the issue quickly, and got everything fixed in no time. Their professionalism, responsibility, and on-time service really stood out. Highly recommend!

Ryan and his partner provided excellent service! They went the extra distance to ensure that the job was performed quickly, efficiently and effectively. Very friendly and knowledgeable service members. Highly recommended.

The guys called and were on time. Extremely polite and friendly. Explained exactly what they would do. Disclosed the price. Alberto and I believe Frank were the 2 that showed up. They did not stop until they had the clog done. They showed me how everything was now working. They cleaned up after they were done. I am extremely satisfied with the service they provided and if needed again will call for service and will definitely recommend to others.

I’ve called John the Plumber for my plumbing needs in my last two homes, and I have always found their team-members to be courteous, prompt, efficient and fully capable. Most recently, Steve provided just the help I sought, both to sell my former residence and to prepare my new century-home for many more years of quality living. His professionalism and commitment to ensuring the standard of work he would want in his own home is both refreshing and greatly appreciated. I could not be more pleased!

I want to say how fantastic and thrilled I was with the service of small business John The Plumber. Quick and friendly service from the intake of my call with Kelly who was so friendly and quick to address my concerns and book an appointment. , to the fantastic and knowledgeable plumber who came within the hour of me calling to book an appointment. Calling in the afternoon I never expected to get a service call the same day. Alberto did a fantastic job. He was knowledgeable, fast, professional, thorough and tidy. He immediately assessed the situation and went right to work and the job was completed in approx a half hour. In the 24 years of being the only homeowners of our home this was the first ever of having to call a plumber for 2 of our 4 toilets and I’m so pleased with my first experience with John The Plumber. I was so pleased with the customer service from start to finish and they also provide upfront pricing. Thank you for such a great job and I will definitely call on you again for any plumbing issues and would refer you for sure. Highly recommended!!!
Before you hire a plumber in Ontario
Yes. Plumber (306A) is a compulsory trade in Ontario - working without certification is illegal, not just inadvisable.
Certificate of Qualification, 306A Plumber
The individual doing the work must hold this, or be a registered apprentice working under someone who does. Ask for the certificate number and the name it is issued to. It belongs to a person, not a company.
Verify with: Skilled Trades Ontario maintains the public register of certified tradespeople.

Two million dollars is the common floor for residential work. Water damage escalates fast, and a burst supply line during a renovation can exceed a small policy in an afternoon.
WSIB clearance
If a worker is injured on your property and the contractor has no coverage, you can be drawn into the claim. A clearance certificate is free for the contractor to pull and takes minutes.
Verify with: WSIB issues clearance certificates directly to the contractor on request.

G1, G2 or G3 depending on scope. Required for anything connecting to a natural gas or propane line.
Verify with: The Technical Standards and Safety Authority regulates fuel safety in Ontario.

- Is the person doing the work certified in 306A, or an apprentice being supervised? Both are fine. You just want to know.
- Is this quote flat rate or time and materials? If hourly, what is the estimated range and what happens if it runs over?
- Does the job touch a gas line, and if so who holds the TSSA certificate?
- Does this need a municipal plumbing permit, and are you pulling it?
- What is the warranty on labour, separately from the manufacturer warranty on parts?
