Matt and his staff were so helpful in helping me bring my hot tub back to life. I live on lake water and did not know why I could not get the water clear. I live 2 hours away. But knew pool mates from living in Scarborough years before. After going to all the pool companies around here and not getting anywhere, I bright a sample in to Matt and his staff. After learning from them, things I didn’t know. And careful instructions. I now have a crystal clear hot tub! Ty!

Yulanda is a fantastic person she actually help me get my repairs warranted and saved me a bunch of money best manager ever more companies need to follow her example she is what good looks like working for the customer and building trust by having integrity...well done Pool mates rocks because of service like this they will get all my business going forward...FYI stay away from Pioneer pools in Barrie they are in it for the money and do not have your best interest in mind terrible place lunch bag let down big time. Even after they installed a very expensive pool for me. Dave Roy Happy with pool mates 5 star service at its best. Thank you

The associates at this store were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Our filter union was leaking and I simply sent them a video. They ordered me the parts, assembled them, glued them and even teflon taped the thread for me then taught me how to install it myself. This saved me $ in labour costs. $20 and my filter is up and running again!

Thomas James

They helped me locate a repair person for my pool. Fantastic service. During the lockdown you could park and take out chlorine jugs and an employee would take them from you by your car and refill them. No appointments necessary.

Before you hire a hot tub installer in Ontario

Hot tub sales and placement are unregulated, but the electrical connection is not. It requires a licensed electrical contractor and an ESA inspection.

Licensed electrical contractor with an ECRA/ESA number

A hot tub needs a dedicated GFCI-protected 240V circuit and, in most cases, a disconnect within sight of the tub. This is not work for a handyman.

Verify with: The Electrical Safety Authority, esasafe.com.

ESA notification and Certificate of Acceptance

Filed by the electrical contractor and inspected. Keep the certificate - insurers and buyers ask for it.

Adequate base or engineered deck support

A filled hot tub with occupants is a serious point load. Placing one on an ordinary residential deck without verifying capacity is a real structural risk, and decks have failed under them.

General liability insurance for delivery and placement

Crane placement over a house is a moment where insurance stops being theoretical.

Questions worth asking

  • What is the filled weight, and is my intended base or deck rated for it?
  • Which licensed electrical contractor will do the connection, and is the ESA notification included?
  • Will I get the Certificate of Acceptance when it passes inspection?
  • Can the tub physically reach the location, or is a crane required - and is that in the price?
  • What is the insulation construction, and what is the realistic monthly running cost in winter?
